Subject: Trying To Find Song From 80's.

Written By: Secret_Squirrell on 02/16/04 at 03:29 a.m.

Anyone know the name and band who did a song that has the following lyrics to it:

"...back where we started, here we go 'round again.."

Any ideas?

Secret squirrel...any hints? was it fast like electronic or hold-over disco? was it a girl  or was it a guy singing? Was it in harmony?  did you get the impression it was guys speaking to a girl?  Can you answer these questions if you like the song that much?   have you done a Google search such as maybe  typing "Lyrics+around again" or some such.
I typed in "ponderous" the other day and I got the link of threads that discussed just that song on a similar webpage as this.  Not to confuse your search but do you recall that song? He's talking all the way thru, and keeps saying there's always polo in these dreams--then the horns kicked in, then my shoes started to squeak." What can i say??
all i can think of is Silly love song- Wings, but they don't sing "round again" so I'm wrong.  how early or late 80s was this song of yours? And Wings...I know was mostly mid 70's, late 70s.

Is it this?:
The Kinks-Do It Again

Standing in the middle of nowhere,
Wondering how to begin.
Lost between tomorrow and yesterday,
Between now and then.

And now we’re back where we started,
Here we go round again.
Day after day I get up and I say
I better do it again.

Where are all the people going?
Round and round till we reach the end.
One day leading to another,
Get up, go out, do it again.

Then it’s back where you started,
Here we go round again.
Back where you started,
Come on do it again.

And you think today is going to be better,
Change the world and do it again.
Give it all up and start all over,
You say you will but you don’t know when.

Then it’s back where you started,
Here we go round again.
Day after day I get up and I say
Come on do it again.

The days go by and you wish you were a different guy,
Different friends and a new set of clothes.
You make alterations and affect a new pose,
A new house, a new car, a new job, a new nose.
But it’s superficial and it’s only skin deep,
Because the voices in your head keep shouting in your sleep.
Get back, get back.

Back where you started, here we go round again,
Back where you started, come on do it again.

Back where you started, here we go round again,
Day after day I get up and I say, do it again.
Do it again.
Day after day I get up and I say, come on do it again.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Lanie, I think that's it!  I'm just trying to track down the song but the lyrics fit.  Thanks a lot!  :)

Yeah, Google brought up $hit loads of commercial crap.  They're getting pretty bad for that over the past couple of months.

As for "Ponderous", I have that on MP3 and share it on Kazaa.  Funny song.  Sort of like "Everyone Should Wear Sunscreen" that came out in '99.
