Written By: redfroggie on 02/22/04 at 04:42 p.m.

I don't know if it came out in the 70's for sure but I need help. I don't remember the name of the song but it had the words "building castles in the sand" and I think the word September. It's a sad love song and I can't think of how it goes but it is driving me crazy. I have looked alllll over the net and can't find it. Please help me, you are my last hope....... :'(

What else can you remember? Was it sung by a male? Female? Group? Any little bit info you can give may help (even if you don't think it will).

I don't know if it was a group, but it was a male singer. It was about the end of summer love etc. It was so long ago thats about all I can remember. Thank you for helping.

Yo Redfroggie, you can try going to: http://www.leoslyrics.com

You can do a 'phrase', or a 'scattered words' search.  :)

Van Decker - Castles

(1st Verse)
We've been friends for so many years
I never thought that we'd be kissin'
How can I tell you, come over here
I wanna kiss you again
Now your more than a friend
You're my lover
We use to play in the woods all day
Along the banks of the river
Do you recall the games we'd play
I liked you then, do you remember

(Transition)
You’re lookin' real fine
It's been a long time
I can believe that it's true

I wanna hold ya
I wanna show ya
I've always felt it for you

(Chorus)
It's those Castles In The Sand
That's how it began
Castles In The Sand
That's how it began and I'm like a child again

(2nd Verse)
You left a basket on the first of May
I found it on my doorstep
It said, "I Love You" but left no name
Did you know all along
That I found out from Shawn
It was you

I can't forget how we would play
After school at your mother's
You spun the records on the phonograph
While I danced with your brothers

(Transition)
You're lookin' real fine
It's been a long time
I can believe that it's true

I wanna hold ya
I wanna show ya
I've always felt it for you

(Chorus - Inst. Solo - Transition)

(Chorus)
It's those Castles In The Sand
That's how it began
Castles In The Sand
That's how it began and I hope it never ends

I want to thank everyone for your help. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the song  :'(   I am trying to research the cobwebby parts of my mind. Another line I believe is:
Do you remember those september nites,
walking hand in hand building castles in the sand.........

I have looked at several sites for the lyrics and have come up empty handed.

I think the song you're looking for is "Summer Nights" by Survivor (1982).

Sample lyrics:

Girl it always seems about September
That’s the time, again I remember the lights
And all the fun of those summer nights...

Buildin’ castles in the driftin’ sand
Raced the waves as they ran to the shore
But the tides were turned for ever more
And the things we planned
Were castles made of sand...

OMG!!!! Dare I get my hopes up.....I do believe that is the song. However when I went to search for it, it did not appear on any survivor album. Ok Ok I think we are getting sooooo close  :D And do you have all the rest of the lyrics by chance?? I so think thats it. I will love you forever. Now all I need is to hear the whole song and I can put this to bed.

It's at B&N:

And I'm sure it's at Amazon.com, too.

And another happy ending!

You think your song was hard to find? I had 2 that took 25 years to locate! (maybe I should have asked someone to help me!!!)

zcrito you are an angel!!! I went to the link you sent me, and of course they give you like 30 sec. of a song but it was enough for me I bought the album. And in 3-7 days I will be one of the happiest peeps on earth!!! Thank you again and thank you Decades. I am sure this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Oh by the way zcrito, I am curious what were the 2 songs??

Of course they were hard to locate. Ones in French and the other is an instrumental.
