Subject: Why do you think people mishear songs?

Written By: ChuckyG on 7/5/2000 at 7:35 a.m.

I was thinking of starting a small FAQ for the site, and I thought it might be a good idea for people to suggest their reasons people mishear songs

my theories:

1) The mind tries to fill in the blanks. If you can't understand something, you try to come up with something that fits what you think the song is about

2) People just assume all songs are dirty when they first hear them, and hear what they want (case in point, Louie Louie, a song about a guy whose love lays across the sea, is considered dirty enough to warrant an FBI investigation)
