Subject: Beatles-Being For The Benefit Of Mister KIte

Written By: Alan Mueller on 9/27/2001 at 3:37 p.m.

The lyric in this song really is "Ten sommersets he'll undertake on solid ground". If you read the back of Sargent Pepper's you will see sommersets in the lyrics. You can also find a copy of Hunter S. Davies authorised biography. In the book John Lennon recalls how he found a poster in a shop. The poster had the lyrics basically right there. He said he was not overly proud of this song, since he just copied the poster, changing things only to make them rhyme, and keep the pace of the song. He then points out that even the word sommersets was already there. He makes an offhanded comment to the effect he could have never made up such a heard.
