Subject: Ocean's "Put Your Hand" - again!

Written By: Leonardo on 10/14/2001 at 5:45 p.m.

Dear Chuck/ all,

I am reposting this as it came out formatted in the wrong way.

The following should be the complete and exact lyrics to the Gene MacLellan song as it was performed by his group Ocean in 1971.

I have listened to it back and forth and confronted numerous versions i found on the net. I hope I got it right this time around.

Ciao!

Leonardo

Put Your Hand by Gene MacLellan

Put your hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the water Put your hand in the hand of the Man who calmed the sea. Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently By putting your hand in the hand of the Man from the Galilee.

Everytime I look into the Holy Book I want to tremble (tremble) When I read about the part where the Carpenter cleared the temple (temple) For the buyers and the sellers were no different fellows than what I profess to be And it causes me shame to know we're not the people we should be.

So Put your hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the water Put your hand in the hand of the Man who calmed the sea. Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently By putting your hand in the hand of the Man from the Galilee.

My momma taught me how to pray before I reached the age of seven, She said: "There'll come a time when we'll probably need room in heaven". But I'm feeling kind of guilty 'bout the number of times to do what we must do. Well we forget what he said when we figure that he'd still make room.

So you gotta put your hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the water, Put your hand in the hand of the Man who calmed the sea. Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently By putting your hand in the hand of that Man from Galilee.

Everybody come along! Put your hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the water (who stilled the water) Put you hand in the hand of the Man who calmed the sea (who calmed the sea). Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently (fades away)
