Subject: Annie, I'm not Your Daddy - Kid Creole & His Coconuts
Written By: ElFakir on 10/01/04 at 11:46 am
I saw this entry in here on misheard lyrics:
Kid Creole And The Coconuts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kid Creole And The Coconuts', "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy"
Misheard Lyrics:
Your mama was in search of love
But all she got was you.
Correct Lyrics:
Your mama was in search of love
But all she got was used.
I disagree with this interpretation. What I am hearing, is "But all she got was Youse". And that makes for a funny line - which is all about what the song is. It's meant to be funny. "All she got was used" is not funny - it's tragic. Kid Creole clearly did not intend to be tragic - he intended to be funny. And one truly funny lyric this is. But I'm ashamed that all the lyrics sites I've searched so far, interprets it as "All she got was used". Who transcribes these lyrics anyways ? Also, in the line "When mama stayed in St. Tropez, she had a fall or two", which is how most lyrics site write it, I hear "..she had a ball or two". Which line is correct here... ?
