who was the original write and performer of "PErsonal Jesus"? (Recently covered by MArilyn Manson)A friend told me Judas Priest but he's unsure.

That's a Depeche Mode original. I'd assume it was written by Martin Gore. I'm sure board member Absolutely Vile could confirm this, as she's a big fan.

Ladybug is right. Depeche Mode were the original performers, and Martin Gore did indeed write it, the lyrics and music.
