Subject: New Lyrics For 99 luftballons

Written By: Kuper on 05/02/05 at 11:23 pm

I have transalated and put together an english version of 99 luftballons thats poetic like the original english version but keeps the "jist" of ninas original song (I think) and it is singable to the music:

99 flyin' red balloons
On their way to the atmosphere
Seemed like Fighters from outerspace
It caught the general unaware
A flying squad went to the place
To raise the alarm if it was true
On the horizon only there where
99 flyin' red balloons

99 jets of the air
In each one was a great fighter
Thought they were all Captain Kirks
They all triggered great fireworks
The people did not understand
They said outerspace had the upper hand
Yet they shot under the moon at
99 flyin' red balloons

99 prime ministers
Wanted more gasoline canisters
Thought they had alot of smarts
Waging war in different parts
They wanted power through the war they fought
Man, who would have come to thought
This all happened just because
Of 99 flyin' red balloons

Of 99 flyin' red balloons

99 flyin' red balloons

99 years without peace
There is nothing for the victors
There are no prime ministers
There are no war machines either
Today I'm walking in the darkness
Of the world shattered in ruins
Found a red balloon floating
And think of you as it is fleeting

If you want you cant post it on www.amiright.com. ,although a simple translation may not qualify as a parody if indeed this is what the song means.

Wasn't an English version of this song already made a couple of years ago?

Does anyone here speak German?  That sounds like a literal translation of Nena's original German lyrics, (as opposed to the English version that was released almost simultaneously with the original German) but my German is *abysmal*, so don't take my word for it.  (And I listen to industrial music, and I've always wanted to learn the language, so I really have no excuse. :)

You don't understand, the reason Kuper posted this is because the english and german songs are 2 different sets of lyrics to the same tune.  the 2 songs mean 2 different things basicaly.
