Subject: Kelis' "Milkshake"... euphemism for what, exactly?

Written By: Luke Brattoni on 11/08/05 at 8:13 pm

OK, I've had recent heated debates about what is actually being referred to in this song. The 'warm it up' line seems to throw the majority of suggested ideas, so I was wonderign what you, the informed music audience, thought this song was about.

it sounds like its a sexual act performed on a man by a woman..

Milk shake - a female shaking her bodacious ta-ta's to beguile a male. Simple as that. Now put that skimpy t-shirt on and go out and wash the car. That oughta 'bring all the boys to the yard'.

OK, that was one of the many suggestions brought up. Could you please explain the relevance of the 'warm it up' line for us, though, as this is what threw most of our theories askew.

And, of course, it is paramount that this mystery be solved.

maybe it's an imperfect metaphor. The target audience isn't exactly the nit-picking literary-type crowd.

I'll settle for that. As long as they can slip innuendo into songs (eg: 'Candy Shop') they don't even care if it doesn't make sense.

Aha! I think we finally cracked it last night at the Musical Society nibbles n karaoke party.

Let's just say that a Milkshake involves a mini-jacuzzi being made by a woman using a straw to blow bubbles in a bowl of warm milk.
However, due to the size of the jacuzzi, not all of the man can fit in...

That sexual fetish, my friend, must be exclusive to Australia or something.

Or exclusive to your "nibbles n karaoke" group.

Quite possibly the most hilarious use of the word 'singular' in the history of literature. I'm still weeping.

Nah, I found a better one - the definition of "singular" @ Urbandictionary.com:

A tiny centipede that lives in damp, wooden environments, possibly gay. Only one "singular" exists in the world, with a life span of seventy five thousand years. It lives in some sh*t country like Brazil.

"There is a singular on my newly woven gown of the night." Said Princess Nanny-Teets, whilst stabbing ALL the children.

Hoo boy, I guess the word 'singular' is imbued with an innate hilarity for any context. It's crawling up my list of favourite words, giving 'cheese' and 'obfuscate' a run for their money.

...when not in the context of each other.

"Well, you've singularly obfuscated my cheese."

Good one, TibbyGirl.
