Subject: Enya anyone?

Written By: lulu0209 on 08/10/06 at 9:08 pm

Hi everyone ... the "ordinary ninja" group is back and yet another song has hit our muzak that we just don't get and we need your help with.  This song sounds like Enya and the only part of the song we "get" (not) is the chorus ... however ... it sounds as if all she's saying is ... BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ... BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH and so on.  The music is very soothing and is enjoyable to listen to, but we can't figure out what's she's singing    Help us please !!!  We beg you !!!  And who knows ... it might not even be Enya, but Enya-esk.  As always, thanks in advance!!!

Dude (or dudette), ALL Enya songs have a "blah blah" chorus, and all are soothing! Some more information is necessary to figure this out; one or two correct words (other than "blah blah...) would be needed since no Internet sites aren't going to list non-word choruses.

However, it COULD be "Flora's Secret"; the choruses all differ a bit, but there is one that has a "blah blah..." part (x4); if the 4th line sounds like the intro to Seal's "Kiss From A Rose", then that's the song.

Thanks Red Ant ... I will check out the lyrics for Flora's Secret, but we will try to listen for the actual words and reply next week.

Since she is/sings in Irish Gaelic, with some Latin overtones, a lot of Enya's music needs translation.  I'm working on one that needed translation for the whole song, yet the internet only gave the words and translation for the chorus..."Ebudae"...but I did find one site that translates most of her songs...you may need that as well...http://www.pathname.com/enya/  .  Good luck! Tell us when you find it.

Thanks adagio ... I checked out that site and was unable to find the song, but I went to Napster and clicked on the first song, and it was the one I was looking for.  The name is Amarantine.

Thanks everyone ... this site rocks!

I'm sure I'll be back with another song we can't figure out, but until then ... take care!

Amarantine is a pretty song. The complete song plays from her website http://www.enya.com/main.php.

Enya's version of the Christmas carol "Silent Night" is one of the most loveliest songs I have heard.

She does a wonderful job of it too!  My favorite Enya song is "Only Time".  The "da" that the person is complaining about is shear melody!!! :)

People have asked her if she would ever "tour".  She has said her music is imposible to duplicate for a concert. :)

One thing she does do in the studio to create her sound, is that she records her singing voice individually eight times, which makes it time consuming.

Right and the fact that she does it in her own studio.  In her castle makes for those great acoustics :)

Maybe it's just me.  But I adore British, Celtic, Scottish heritage.  I know it's NOT all the same but still.  I know this may sound silly but when I listen to Enya, I imagine I'm walking the halls of Dunvegan. :)

Dunvegan Castle has been the stronghold of the Chiefs of MacLeod for nearly 800 years, have you descended from the MacLeods?

No, but my best friend is.  He and his family have visited many times.  They visit the Isle and England and Ireland every year.  I hope someday they'll take me. :)

She gets knocked, but you have to give her a lot of credit for her consistency over twenty years of music.

She had arguments with Howard Shore over the music in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Full details later.
