Subject: A folky song

I'm after the title and artist of a song I heard it's sung by a male and I think it's a folk song. Some of the words are: "I just knew you'd be my friend"/I just knew that we were/are gonna be friends, I think that these lines may be part of the chorus of this song.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
