Subject: 70s? "be strange"--what song?

I have heard a song on the classic rock radio station, which of course does not usually give the name and artist! The song is really upbeat and catchy and kind of sounds like "Young American"-era Bowie. The only lyrics I know, or can think of, is the refrain at the end. It has what sounds to be hand claps and lyrics that sound to me like: "be strange to me my brother, _____be strange!" It could also be something like "Be strange to me my brother, climb aboard the beat train." It's not the Doors - People are Strange, I don't think.
Anyone know what song this is?
