Tonight's obscurantia:

Obscure UK rappers Three Wize Men emerged from the urban hell of 1986 and brought us  Cruisin' for a Bruisin', from 1988's GB Boyz.

Gonna need some lyrics help on this one.  "This neighborhood's bad, that fact is sad" returns no results.  We're gonna fix that in a few days.

I've worked out some of the lyrics, hopefully some others here can work out the blanks...

Hit me

Hit me

chorus
??
Did you hear what I said
You're cruisin for a bruisin
And I'm gonna see red

??
You're making me sick
?? get a grip
You're just a boy
?? toy
? I'm gonna destroy
You don't stand a chance
??
Now give me a reason
? let rip

chorus

It's how I feel, don't take the mickey
It is how it is so have no pity
This is the sound of the inner city
It ain't the secret life of Walter Mitty
This neighbourhoods bad, that fact is sad
That ain't no reason for you to go bad

chorus

Cruisin for a bruisin x4

chorus

I'm a boy I'm a ox
Get out of your box
I think it's time to change your socks

There's nothing to steal
??
I do not possess five pounds
Don't come on heavy like a mob
I think you deserve a punch in the gob

chorus

Thanks for the head start!  (It's harder than it looks, isn't it?  You've filled in a few blanks that I didn't have, now it's my turn.)

Attention random readers: We're trying for 1988 UK rappers 3 Wize Men, Cruising for a Bruising, apostrophes optional, from the album G.B. Boyz.  We spent years nailing down Intaferon's Get Out of London, as well as scrounging for references to substantiate Double Dutch Bus.  (Even the google cache of our Double Dutch Bus source has expired, but we're still here.  To quote Arlo Guthrie, we're not proud.  Or tired.)

But we could use some help with the British accents.  (Heaven knows, we had enough trouble with the Australian accents and references to cricket in Nineteen Not Out...)

Hit me (Sampled? Sounds like James Brown, I'm Real, 1988.)
Hit me

chorus
(Knucklehead?)
Did you hear what I said,
You're cruisin for a bruisin,
And I'm gonna see red (I'm not convinced, but I'm stumped by this line too!)

Through ???? (4 syllables)
You're making me sick,
(you want me so bad?) (you've gotta) get a grip (
You're just a boy
(that plays the?) toy
? ? ? ? I'm gonna destroy (You can't mock me, ? ? ?roy?)
You don't stand a chance
and you'd better ?chip?)
Now give me a reason
I wanna let rip!

chorus

It's how I feel, don't take the Mickey,
It is how it is so have no pity,
This is the sound of the inner city,
It ain't the secret life of Walter Mitty,
This neighbourhood's bad, that fact is sad,
That (there?) ain't no reason for you to (go bad)?  (I hear one syllable instead of "go bad", but "Beg" doesn't make sense.)

chorus

Cruisin for a bruisin x4

chorus

I'm a boy (I hear "boar"), I'm a ox,
Get (you're) out of your box,
I think it's time to (you) change(d) your socks

There's ( got) nothing to steal
(?And you ?? rob?) (?and you've got it wrong?)
I do not possess (even) five pounds! (I had no idea on this line, but it makes sense with "I've nothing to steal" and the video bit with the granny punching the guy out!)
Don't come (You're comin?) on heavy, just like a mob
I think you deserve a punch in the gob!

chorus

Samples:
"que pasa, people, que pasa, q-q-q-q-q-ue-pasa-que-que-que-que-pasa, hit me" - James Brown, I'm Real, 1988.
"It's time" (vocoder) - Hashim, Al Naafiysh (The Soul"), 1983

"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty"?

First rap song to mention a James Thurber story, if I ain't mistaken.

YO! I get jiggy with every bitch I touch
I can lick your pussy like
The Scotty Who Knew Too Much
I can whip any farm dog in town
No porcupine pull a knife on me
'Cos I'm the toughest pooch in the hood
You see!

(Knucklehead?)  sounds like that to me as well, although is that just because you suggested it?  :-\\
Did you hear what I said,
You're cruisin for a bruisin,
And I'm gonna see red (I'm not convinced, but I'm stumped by this line too!) fits in with the getting angry side of it

still can't make much sense of this next verse
Through ???? (4 syllables)
You're making me sick,
(you want me so bad?) (you've gotta) get a grip (
You're just a boy
(that plays the?) toy
? ? ? ? I'm gonna destroy (You can't mock me, ? ? ?roy?)

Now give me a reason
I wanna let rip!

Just looking up slang and things and came across a possible 'translation' for

and you'd better chip

Apparently it can mean 'leave/exit'

It may be very regional - not a use I've ever come across before.

I'll take it.  Two sources back you up for chip as an abbreviated form for chip off.  Original phrase was "chip me off a corner" before I go", shortened and corrupted to "I'm gonna chip off" or "I'm chipping now".  (My guess was that it was a reference to a "chip shot" from golf, but I'd trust UrbanDictionary over my uninformed guess.  I wasn't aware of the term as Brit slang for "leave", and the only time I've encountered it is in the lyrics for this song.  And I'm not British either.)

Neither was I.  And I am British!

Slang like this can be very regionalised in the UK.  In some cases people from the next town wouldn't know what you meant!

Here's my advancement of the deciphering of the rap!

Hit me (Sampled? Sounds like James Brown, I'm Real, 1988.)
Hit me

chorus
Knucklehead
Did you hear what I said,
You're cruisin for a bruisin,
I'm a bull seeing red

Sure I  ???? (3 syllables)
You're making me sick,
Your mind is so bad, you've gotta get a grip
You're just a boy
(that man is a ?) toy
You can't rob me I'm trained to destroy
You don't stand a chance
You can ?  ?
Now give me a reason
I wanna let rip!

chorus

It's how I feel, don't take the Mickey,
It is how it is so have no pity,
This is the sound of the inner city,
It ain't the secret life of Walter Mitty
This neighbourhood's bad, that fact is sad,
There ain't no reason for you to blag (try to get something for nothing)

chorus

Cruisin for a bruisin x4

chorus

I'm a bull I'm a ox,
You're out of your box,
I think it's time to changed your socks

I've got nothing to steal
And you're gonna rob
I do not possess even five bob (a 'bob' is a 5p coin; 5 bob is 25p)
You're comin on heavy, just like a mob
I think you deserve a punch in the gob

chorus

Samples:
"que pasa, people, que pasa, q-q-q-q-q-ue-pasa-que-que-que-que-pasa, hit me" - James Brown, I'm Real, 1988.
"It's time" (vocoder) - Hashim, Al Naafiysh (The Soul"), 1983
