Subject: "Take me higher" song.

Written By: John on 12/01/12 at 8:47 am

Hi all, I've been trying to find a song I overheard a long time ago. Can't find it back and it's been gnawing at me for months every time I think about it ! ;-)

Unfortunately I only have those words " Take me higher ", it's definitely a male voice. I would have said 90's. could be 80's could be 00's BUT the beat and music behind it is pretty calm, the voice was also calm I'd say ( Not U2, Not John sparr's st elmos fire, definitely rock/pop and not hip-hop/rap/soul. )

I guess I'm not giving you as much as would be needed to find that easily, but if someone finds it, it would be great. Thanks to all ;-))

Unfortunately, it's not this one, the music is more quiet, don't know how to explain it.. Arh, shame that I only have those few words and nothing more...
Any ideas ?
Thx a lot for the help ;-)

I would have said "Even Better Than The Real Thing" by U2 (which DOES mention the phrase in question, but not until late in the song; four times in succession between 2:56 and 3:11), but you say it's not a U2 song that you're thinking of.

Not sure what else it could be.

the only thing that comes to my mind with words like that is

You know your love is liftin me higher
Then I've ever been lifted before

might not be it though

That's a Rita Coolidge song made famous in the late 70s, Jackie Wilson sang in the 1960s I think. . I like it, but yeah, it's not quiet.

Thanks to all of you for your help. Unfortunately it's none of those songs.
I'll try and get more intel as I listened to it with a girlfriend of mine, she might remember more than me.
It's really nothing with a lively beat behind it, it's really slow-paced if I might say in the sense that there is none of the boom boom of rap or high notes that 80 glam rock and electro (when they just sampled EVERYTHING ;-) ) can have.
It's definitely a male voice.
I'd describe it as a love song I guess ( but then with take me higher in it, not a surprise )...

OK John, remembering the decade or closer to the actual year would benefit us, I think.
So it's a slower song...somewhat like "Careless Whisper" by Wham or "The Power of Love" By Frankie goes to Hollywood? ( a couple of mid 1980s ballads)

Yeah, that would have been my first thought... "Higher" by Creed

I know that one quite well; it is a hard-rock song from 1999; not sure if that's what our guest is looking for, though.
