Subject: Need help with two soul/rb songs

Written By: Chess613 on 10/10/02 at 05:43 a.m.

There are two songs I'm desperately looking for, but I don't know the artists.  I'm hoping this forum can help.

One is a slow ballad type song - almost jazzy.  Has a soft keyboard intro and a baritone male voice, almost like Al Jarreau (but it's not him).  The chorus goes: Forever on end/you have always been my friend/you have been there through thick and thin/ours is a love that will never end..

The second song is even more difficult.  This is by a group - or maybe two guys.  The refrain is Just The Two Of Us (not to be confused with Bill Whithers' song).. and the chorus ends with ".. foreeee - verrr.. as one"  Lots of chord changes in this song.  Both songs were heard on quiet storm radio stations but I hadn't heard any of these in several years.

Ok, this is a bonus.  I'm sure this song was done by the Little River Band, but I want to be sure.  The chorus is: I still wake and I want you by my side.  The chorus sounds like the doobie brothers, but I checked on www.allmusic.com and I don't see any indication that they did a song like this.  This is a moderate ballad.

Can anyone help me on this one?  you can email me back at Chess613@pacbell.net

The artist is jazz pianist Rodney Franklin, but I was unable to confirm the song title - it may be called "A Song for You". Would've been from the late '70s or early '80s...

Sorry, no guesses on this one...

If you're certain it's by LRB, then you're thinking of "By My Side", a cut off the group's 1979 album, First Under the Wire. Unfortunately, the album is now out-of-print, although it was briefly re-issued on CD here in the U.S. in the late '90s on the One Way label...
