I spent a lot of time (and money) in Redondo Beach, back in the 1980s. Remember Red Onion, and there was a restaurant next to it that became a Cheesecake Factory? Anyway, the bars in those restaurants were a second home for quite a few years.

I spent a lot of time (and money) in Redondo Beach, back in the 1980s. Remember Red Onion, and there was a restaurant next to it that became a Cheesecake Factory? Anyway, the bars in those restaurants were a second home for quite a few years.

Red Onion, what a blast from the past. ;D Its a shame they close those suckers down. I always had to get margaritas and chips & salsa from them ( love mexican food) . I loved when they had KROQ DJ, and play 80s songs. Me and my friends would have a ball dancing.

Plus they had "Fat Sunday" for a while - you would pay $5 to get in and get $5 drink tickets and that all you can eat Mexican buffet. And let's not forget "buckets". My favorite was the Long Island Iced Tea bucket.

I used to party at the old Redondo Beach pier when Fashions night club was there, and Richard Blade from KROQ was the DJ. At closing time my date and I would walk out the the edge of the pier and look at the night sky, the stars, the ocean and the city lights. Ah, those were the daze!!! I miss it so-o-o-o-o much!!!!
