There are quite a few defunct resorts up in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I would love to take a trip there to explore some of them. Here are some pictures that I stumbled upon of some defunct resorts....very very interesting! ;)

Economic depression has its advantages...only kidding  ;)

But I'd to be cool to go there and have a night of sitting round the bonfire and telling ghost stories. Apart from the getting mugged part of course.

on the website where these pictures came from...it gave the level of how hard it was to get into the buildings to take pictures, etc....some of the places were easy, while others were somewhat more difficult.  I seriously am thinking about taking a weekend trip there (it's only a few hours or so from me).....and taking my good old trusty camera along for the experience.....and just try to find all of these great defunct places....how cool would that be?

I know. Just wish they'd had places like that round here. Abandoned Amusement parks, malls, asylums and prisons would be best...

My grandma once took me to an abandoned amusement park.. very nice.

There's this hotel near us that was partially destroyed by fire that was abandoned. However, it's in the middle of town and it was only abandoned recently, so it's not exactly creepy. ;D

Yeah, it's right down the block from where  you turn in to go to Justin's.

Hey, have you or Beth heard about the documentary that is going to be filmed at the R and R Station Restaurant and Inn in you hometown (Mt. Pleasant)?

Yeah, me and a group of people at Cash-in Culture have been trying to get a date to spend the night there. Every month they have tours and speakers. I was going to write an article about it for Curb Magazine. I talked to the owner, and she agreed to have me come and interview the employees.

When I was a kid we would always go to Hillside Lodge in the Pocono's...I'm trying to find out if it's still around.  Anyone ever heard of it?

it's funny that you mention the Poconos. Beth and I are thinking about taking a trip there this summer to do some exploring. There are about 3 abandoned resorts (that I know of) that we would like to check out and take pictures of.

AWESOME PICTURES! Closest thing to me is the ground of a former HoJo motel and restaurant on E.  Main St./US 40 (national Rd.) in Columbus, OH. i remember the dilapidated building stood from the time I came to Columbus (mid 90s) til about 1999 when it was demolished. Only remnant is the ground and a few barely visible parking spaces. I currently live about half a mile from the pics in this link:
