Others I like...

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original)
Don't be Afraid of the Dark

When this movie came out it was creepy and a little scary and I loved it.

The Exorcist was the scariest (when it first came out), now it's kind of lame but director William Blatty directed another not so well known film titled "Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane" which I saw with "He Knows You're Alone" and even though "Twinkle,Twinkle, Killer Kane" isn't quite as scary as most, it's a very good suspense thriller with a twist at the end of the movie and has been renamed "The Ninth Configuration"  basic storyline is New psychiatrist (commanding officer) takes over an asylum for disturbed military men which is at a remote castle  .
stars Stacy Keach

Yeah, that was creepy...like the best horror movies, it worked alot on suspense. Though personally, I think it showed you a bit too much, if you know what I mean. It's made even spookier by the 'Exorcist curse'. The filming crew were beset by problems, and one of the main actors in the film was killed in an accident not long after the film was released. I think it's coincidence, but still, it's spooky.

The Others (Probably the favorite of all scary movies)
The Sixth Sense
The Seventh Sign (even though I'm not too sure if this could be concidered a scary movie or not)
The Omen (the orginal one)
Poltergist
Children of the Corn (These last two I can not watch alone.)

The Exorcist (original)
Ghost Story
The Serpent & the Rainbow
Blair Witch Project
Halloween (original)
Saw (original)

Rosemary's Baby
The Exorcist
Carrie
Trilogy Of Terror
The Omen
Henry, Portrait Of A Serial Killer
Devil's Advocate
Angelheart
I'm sure there are others, but these stand out as creeping me out the most.

i looked so many of them , but really one that scares me at that time (i miss that capacity of being scared by a movie, it gones with my childhood :( ) is a 80s movie called Superstition (AKA the Witch in USA). Is an underrated movie , and is the storie of a town that burns a witch in 1692 , and then that witch reborns from hell..... im still remeber being scared with my old brother and cry by fear the entire night, cause a tree we have in our yard makes a shadow identically to the shadow of the witch ...is really weird that stil scares me , but bring me to many memories, i miss my bro so much since he get married, is weird...

Alien was filmed on a closed set, with only the main vital crew in the studio, so what was filmed was kept secret. On the release of the film it created a huge impact.

I love phsycological thrillers. I think it's worse when something messes with your mind instead of being up front and chopping someone's arm off at the socket.

My favorite mind bender is "The Others" with Nicole Kidman. The ending was so far out in left field, I was shaken for a couple of days.

The Omen is great.

Salem's Lot used to scare the crap out of me as a kid.  Vampires scratching on windows and whispering, let me in, come on...That kind of put a damper on my sleeping for awhile.

Poltergeist definitely had some freaky parts.

I have attempted reading three of his books. Lisey's Story, The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger, and Blaze. The only one I got through was Blaze. Lisey's story started very slow and then hit a good spot but it slow down again shortly after so i stopped and Gunslinger was just rediculously slow to me but tam says that the series is fantastic.

His normally are. Have you ever read insomnia. I want to but that size of that book is ridiculous. I can read fast when I want to but i have to be in the mood and with school and stuff I don't have the time to be in the mood.

Insomnia is a great book.  The Stand is the best, though.  The movie would have been 100 times better if they had cast someone other than Molly Ringwald as Fran. ::)  (no I will never get over that ;D )

SK is one case that I believe the movies are better than the books - because I can never make it through the books :-\\ :-\\ :-\\  I have tried reading It, The Stand, Pet Cemetary, Carrie, The Shining, The Lot, and Firestarter - I can not make it through a single one of them....  They are incredibly long and intense, and I believe he describes so much that I get bored because they move so slow - I hate the fact that I read 1/2 a book (300 pages) and never know how they turn out :o :o :o

Yeah - unfortunately I miss a lot of the scary movies too - I am under the covers with my eyes closed :-\\ :-\\ :-\\

I never used to be afraid of scary movies (I watched poltergeists, exorcists, wolfen, texas chainsaw massacre, motel hell, friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, and Halloweens when I was 18 and under) NOW most of the Horror movies are soooo psychotic (and most are dealing with realistic "crazy" people) I can not watch them... I do like the first Saw I did manage to see it

I laughed at that too ;D

I also loved how escaping from Leatherhead/face - texas Chainsaw massacre - just be smart (you don't even have to be too smart) and leave the state of Texas

And to win against Micheal Myers from Halloween - just walk at a fast pace and go out into the open (this also works with Jason from Friday the 13th) ;D ;D ;D ;D

You should consider reading his books consisting of short stories instead.  They should hold your attention better.  I have read so many of his books and I don't think the movies do them justice at all.  Misery is probably the only movie that really stuck to the book.  Duma Key just came in the mail and look forward to starting that book.  :)

friday the 13th part 2 was the best one.

i also like the shining, night of the living dead, nightmare on elm street (only the odd numbered ones, strangely), hellraiser and hellraiser 2, omen/exorcist, the haunting (1963), the haunting of hell house (by the director of witch mountain!), the ring, blair witch (yes, i loved blair witch), and, um, a bunch of other stuff.

yeah, phantasm was a cool one, all right. that flying metal ball was an icon when that movie came out. everyone saw the previews and they were all talking about the weird flying ball.

  The flying ball was crazy...

The worst scare I ever got was returning home after watching Phantasm - my sister went into the house ahead of us and hid behind the bedroom door.  I was so shaken that it took awhile before I could even speak...I was only ten or eleven at the time...
