Subject: Strange noises heard around world....what are they?

Ok, so a few months ago, in my small town of Scottdale, PA, around 9 pm, we heard the strangest noises. To this day, I have no explanation as to what they were. Numerous people heard them and were talking about them on Facebook. There have been many suggestions as to what they were: solar storms, apocalyptic noises, train whistles, electromagnetic noise, etc.....but no one knows. Then, after searching on Youtube, I find that people all over the world are hearing these noises. I am telling you, it was a sound that I have never heard before...very creepy. Here are a few links I found where you can hear the sound, but I will say, it was much more dramatic in person. It sounded almost like a whole band of trumpets and it was definitely coming from the sky. :o

I hope nobody minds if I resurrect this post. I found this article that may explain the sounds, though the science is a bit over my head: http://www.kipnews.org/2012/02/02/strange-sounds-in-sky-explained-by-scientists/ .
I remember, a couple years ago, hearing a low hum that sounded like a big engine was running somewhere. It didn't sound at all like the sounds in this video, though. I do remember that several other people at the time were talking about it and trying to figure out what it was.

Khalilov was quickly debunked, but he gets a few points for coming up with something so creatively off-the-wall I had to look to see where the faults were.
