You are listening to music and a song you like comes one and you start singing to it and then you really listen to the words and realize that it doesn't really make sense. Some of the ones which come to mind right now are:

Stairway to Heaven-Led Zep (ok, you can say that it is about drugs-but if you really listen to the lyrics...)

A Horse With No Name by America comes to mind.
On the fist part of the journey I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and Rocks and things. ( rocks are alive?)
The heat was hot. ( duh, no s**t)
The ocean is a desert with it's life underground. ( this just makes no sense at all)

No, I haven't got a clue either...strangely, it makes more sense (and becomes more enjoyable) after several drinks!

That's something to do with Gin IIRC. At least that's what my music teacher told me that's the 'medicinal compound'

Some further research (thanks to a link from Philip Eno) reveals that it is based on an American product called Lydia Pinkham's medicinal compound

Listen to almost any Neutral Milk Hotel, Captain Beefheart, The Birthday Party or Teenage Jesus and The Jerks song... lot of Expressionist lyrics and stream-of-consciousness, so it doesn't add up a whole lot.
Devendra Banhart's hard to get, too...
