Subject: Melhi Appreciation Week

Written By: Spaff.com on 12/01/03 at 12:22 a.m.

As much as I'd like to stay current with all the new parodies submitted to amiright, I can't do it. There are just too damn many of 'em, and I have other demands on my time. (Like, for example, computer solitaire.)

So I'm formally throwing in the towel on trying to keep up.

Instead, I'm going to try to focus on an author a week, and read, vote, and comment on as many of their parodies as I can. I invite y'all to join me. That doesn't mean that those of you who do vote and comment regularly should stop. Hell no. But if you can find a few additional minutes to focus on the selected author, that would be cool (especially for the selected author).

The first victim is Melhi. Check out her parodies at
http://www.amiright.com/parody/authors/melhi.shtml

I will start commenting and voting on her stuff just as soon as I beat my solitaire record.

*drools over Melhi parodies*
I read most of those around Amiright Award time....

Can I nominate an artist for next week?  ;D

Good stuff, the songs that I had heard of anyway. "Arrest these Swarthy Gentlemen" get's extra points because of the spot on and continuous pacing. So I guess I'm in support of Mr.(dot)com's idea. But in about two days I will forget, so I'm glad I looked already.

This is a damn good idea. Maybe you could link to a specific parody each day of the week (or two or three each day, if the person has enough parodies to choose from). But you're right, Spaff, about the number of parodies coming in each day. An idea like this would be a great way to keep track of what people have been up to.

So this is what 2nz meant in his comment!  Spaff...  I'm speechless.  You picked me first because you're pretty much caught up on my catalog, didn't you? :D   Well, if you're busy, you picked well.  I've been a little pre-occupied lately, so everything on my back burner is lame and/or falling flat and needs to sit there and simmer, awhile before I decide whether to rework them or scrap them.  It's looking like I probably won't have any new submissions, this week.

Aww... and such nice comments from wdh, Rice and 2nz!  Thanks guys!  (Seriously, one of my kids just asked me why I'm blushing!)

Even if I wasn't the first week, I'd agree with you, AussieBullDog -- I like this idea.  I've been hitting back catalogs at random since I found the site.  It's become one of my favorite pasttimes.

I like this idea too. Just if I am picked(maybe Spaff'll go crazy some week) looking at my really old stuff(like 2000s) because it all sucked lol....

2nz: That's MISTER "Mr.(dot)com" to you.

AussieBullDog: Your idea of linking to specific parodies every day is a good one; alas, it's way too involved for me. There are many days I don't make it to the site at all - I have an exceedingly time-consuming job and and an increasingly neglected home life. I was just being a smartass about my time being taken up by solitaire, though I'm quite pleased that Rice took the bait and confessed to playing with himself so much.

wdh: Of course you can nominate someone for next week. Please just wait till next week to do that so that people don't start ignoring Melhi until then.

Melhi: Um, yeah. Am I that transparent?

Good idea Spaff.  I'll check out Melhi's stuff (that I missed) right after I beat my minesweeper score =)

On which level, pray?  97 on expert would be half my best time...

...and I won't even contemplate playing minesweeper with a trackball or finger pad

It was on expert level.

I did beginner in four seconds (PURE luck) and intermediate in 29.
