Subject: All Ones!!??

Written By: STG_at_home on 01/02/04 at 03:16 p.m.

I have been struck by the all one's voter. I'd like to find this SOB so I can see why he votes my songs all ones. No one seems to like my parodies anymore, but when they vote one's for a song with PERFECT (and I mean it) pacing, it starts to tee me off.

If anyone can give me a tip to start writing better parodies, I would enjoy the help. B/c apparently no one seems to enjoy my parodies.

So have we already declared a parody theme about the One Guy? Or would that just encourage the idiot?

i think the fact that a lot of the younger writers have been giving up and leaving the site is a good part of the reason why the few remaining have had so much trouble getting good votes, especially with parodies of new songs.

What was the question? Oh, the dreaded "Ones Guy". Anybody watch the TV show "Who's Line Is It Anyway?". A regular group of standup comics ad lib a routine, and Drew Carey randomly bestows 1000 points, 400 points, 237 points - get the idea? Nobody wins an Amana range at the end. They just have fun. Same thing here. There really isn't any difference between getting a 5.0 or a 4.3 or a 4.7  This isn't an exact science, nor is it the Olympics (tho' the "Ones Guy" does remind me of the Russian judges sometimes). Sure, I like fives. Fives GOOD. But what I really, REALLY like is that I can post something creative, find that several people took the time to read it - and even send a comment along. And many of them are folks I've grown to respect as writers and enjoy as people. It brings me great pleasure to check the comments. "Oh, Rick D stopped by, and Wildman & Diva...Cool, I gave Adagio a laugh...AussieBullDog checked out my parody half a world away" I love that!

Firstly, Paul Robinson already did a parody to remember the one's guy (link listed below). Secondly, he (or she or it) is the only way I can tell if my songs are really good. You must have written something truly good or inventive to inspire that kind of hatred. Which means so far I've only had one good song     :( :) http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/dionandthebelmonts1.shtml

STG - just saw your message post here about getting '1-slapped'.  Yeah,  it's annoying but some people are like that.  Don't take it as a reflection on your work because the ones are really more about the person who posted them than you.  Once you've got idea firmly under your thinking cap it's not such a big deal. If you feel the need to deal out a litttle pay-back see if you can make sport of the '1-ster' in a return-volley parody,  but keep your cool and do it with class and make sure you do a good job 'cause people will be checking it out probably. For me it was very theraputic, dumped that feeling of helplessness right on the 1-spot. I'm on the "old" end of the authors group here but I'm going to see if I know any of the original songs you parody and see if I qualify to vote on them.  Hang in there.

Hey, glad I happened to be looking around the forum at this time. Otherwise I wouldn't have been around to make a note of this parody I wrote a while ago: http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/irvingberlin3.shtml

Take heart, STG!  NO ONE has more total 1-1-1 votes than yours truly.  Of course, it helps to have 28,000 votes overall to offset them.  There definitely is a 1-1-1 voting prankster that hits my work, but that one person probably isn't responsible for all of my negative votes.  Sheesh, even some of my non-political parodies have those kind of votes.  ::)
