Subject: Arwen Appreciation Week

Written By: 2nz on 01/11/04 at 01:02 a.m.

So guess what I bring, it's this simple thing, you might wanna sing, and I call it my ring. And you can call it whatever you want, but this week is officially LotR week. Arwen is our featured lucky Lothlorien lady. I would highly recommend her parody of "So Long, Farewell" as an appropriate farewell to the movie characters. If you missed them, this is your chance to browse through Arwen's many songs and choose which one is truly your precious. But as an added bonus this week, try to search out other LotR related parodies that you feel didn't get the attention they deserved. However, try to keep the self-promotion to a minimum. And new LotR parodies are also encouraged for the rest of this week. See you at the Prancing Pony.

2nz,  Excellent idea.  Although not an "LOTR" fan (do not know diddly about it) Arwen's stuff is well done and I look at many to see if I can both place the original and figure out what's going on enough to vote.  I just want to also say that you helped me more than you could ever know the other week with your mention.  I was going through a really tough stretch of road and it helped bring my attitude up.  Suddenly a lot of really good things started happening.  I got thru it and things are really looking up.  It also reminded me about extending good thoughts and caring  towards others and I noticed someone else whose work reflected some real pain and gave them a few words to try and help.  If we all could find time to do that once in a while we'd make the world a little bit better place.  Gonna try.  Thanks again.

Glad your week helped you out so much, Paul. The appreciation week idea helped someone else through a rough patch too, although I forget who now. That is excellent that you've come through and also come back to help support the idea. Thanks again. And thank you too, Johnny. I thought interest was waning for 'the Week' in the past couple of days. I figured that wasn't gonna stop me, but I would feel bad if the recipient didn't get as much attention as some of the earlier recipients. And now I don't think that will be a problem. But back on track, pack your Lembas bread, begin your journey through Middle-Earth and check out the many works of Arwen.

Arwen,  Ah,  but you DO deserve it!  And I notice this morning the comments board has been fairly brimming with your name and positive remarks on your work.  About time, I'd say.  I'd thank 2nz again but you can hurt someone with too many slaps on the back.  Oh,  what is "POA"? There are certain periods and cultural trends/cycles that I completely blocked off so occasionally folks are surprised when I know nothing about stuff that just about EVERYONE is assumed to know something about.  Sometimes I try to catch up and sometimes I don't.
