Subject: most underrated writer on amiright

I nominate myself

http://www.amiright.com/cgi-bin/search_authors.cgi?AUTHOREthan%20MawyerAUTHOR

i'm pretty frustrated now about my voting results lately i spent about 2 hours last night writing something i think is pretty good yet all i have to show for it is a vote of all ones and no comments to tell me what i did wrong. And my parody about the elements yesterday got 5's from rick duncan and diva yet it only got 2 other votes and they were both terrible and from people who didn't leave a comment.

If you have anything to say about wha i just said please post it in this thread (or send me a PM if you feel that's more appropriate)

I'm being run ragged, today and I'll be lucky to get another five minutes of free time, before I collapse into bed, tonight, but if you post the URLs to yours from today and yesterday on this thread and I get any free time, at all, I'll check for the URLs, here, then click over to have a look at them and if I don't know the songs well enough to rate, I'll at least leave a comment.   :)

Ethan,

Your "Cupcakes" made me download that song
And it's like - in my head right now
That's right - an unwelcome sound
I should beat you
Really awful hard... ;)

i don't think you'd want to do that merry then i'd have to see what you look like... and this wasn't a carefully researched conclusion i realize there are other writers who deserve more recognition i was simplyy frustrated. And i have one vote songs too

Ethan, you've got a lot of good songs. I liked D-U-B-Y-A, and "High as a Kite, Sir", of the ones I've seen so far. Why don't you check out some of my stuff...

We´re all underrated, that´s why we´re here in the first place, right? ;)

My parodies are also underrated.  At least my website has over 700 hits since I put the counter on it 2 years ago!  Good thing I check it every day...

Ethan, I love your work! I think you are a very talented writer.
Many of us have felt frustration from time to time.

I almost stopped posting parodies on many occasions. So have many others that write parodies on this site.  Some of my favorite parodies are not the most popular ones. You never can tell what the public will embrace, or reject. Stop
second guessing yourself. Do it for the pure enjoyment of
writing !  I'll be there to read them!  :)

Yeah, ok, I thought I'd post again here, as my new parody has been up since yesterday and hasn't gotten a single vote. I consider it rather good, too.

Who has the record for longest time before a parody gets a vote?  I'm aiming for that one.

Underrated and also under-enjoying it...

Whoah... I was going to post a link to one of mine, which hadn't gotten a vote for the several months it's been since it was posted. However, apparently it just got a single vote earlier today :o.

Ethan,
I think I've got you beat on that. I have 300+ parodies and they get little attention. One year ago I was the AmIRight Icon along the Florios and Tong. But now it seems no one cares if S.T.G. writes a new parody.

But that doesn't mean I've completely stopped, my newest parody of "My Name Is..." by Eminem is coming up soon. And it is about me and writers on the site (not insulting, complimenting in a funny sense)

The Underrated Parody Artist award goes to-----me

Eh, after a while people stop caring if you've written another parody, because you having written a parody is becoming somewhat of a commonplace event ;-). Still, I'd guess that just about everyone here at least knows your name. So basically, no fricking way ;-).

...yes, I am aware I overuse smilies.

I think you're right, Ethan; all ones IS pretty bad.

I might rank myself as the second most underrated writer (some of my parodies have only 2 votes!), but at least I don't get all ones!

So I'd say you are the most underrated writer, and I am the second most underrated writer, but not every parody on the site can be read ( at least not quickly). You do have a point, though, and I sympathize greatly.

Sorry, Ethan, but I don't think you qualify.  But I know the feeling and I understand.  You average about 7 or 8 votes per parody and from what I see that's right about in mid-range.  Maybe you deserve more,  you certainly write well enough.  I average about 7 and have decided I'm OK with that (as if I had a choice, right?).  But zero comments/votes does get to me a bit, and I admit to once virtually "shanghai-ing" a work-mate over to amiright,  playing the original song for him on his CD player and standing over him to make sure he voted (I did tell him not to be intimidated, to vote what he honestly thought - pretty funny image, huh...?).  Only did that once, though,  I realized it was just a wee bit over the top...I did flow over to your author's page and check out some titles and place a vote or two.  Sigh...so many deserving writer's...so little time.

Ethan,

I've been spending some time recently going through your catalog of posted parodies here on Amiright.

I started with the "A" 's and I'm almost up to the "C" 's, now.

When you get a chance, please take a look at how I've voted and commented on your A-through-B parodies so far.

I certainly do NOT under-rate you, Ethan.  I have seen ample evidence of your writing talent, and I am impressed.

I plan to continue working my way through your catalog.

You only have to glance at your catalog to see the A-through-B parodies I've read, voted-on, and commented-on so far, to see that I'm not making this up.

Keep up the good work, Ethan.   You can count on me to read and pay attention to good quality work such as your own!

Johnny D
:-)

P.S.  I did not comment and vote on all of your A-through-B parodies, since I don't know all of the original songs...but you'll see numerous parodies where I did vote and comment!
