This is how the matchups would look if the tournament began today.  Since it begins Sunday, I'm not sure if it will change.  The pairings will be based on the average displayed on the parody author's list the day I post the entry thread.

i just realized that if the seedings stay the way the are now i'm going to be going up against someone who is both my age and a fellow long islander (even though i'm in PA now for school)

i think my matchup should be fairly close unless one of us makes a terrible song choice... what i'm worried about is people not wanting to vote against the person running the appreciation weeks

So, Claude, let's see if I understand this now:  The tournament starts Sunday?  What was the decision on the song posting criteria?  You discussed a couple different possible formats but I don't see a final resolution.  If you could clarify this for me either in this thread or e-mail me directly at: <probinson4150@hotmail.com>  I would appreciate it.  I haven't received my PC order yet so I have to do my word processing and submitting, etc. from the Public Library or from Kinko's.  Thanks...pr

You're not getting nervous on me, are ya Ethan? Because you know the voters can smell nervousness...

Man if he leaves the pairings this way I'm toast after the first round. Oh well it was a fun run.  :)

Just to clarify:  the seeding will be based on the overall voting average displayed on the parody author page sometime Sunday when I post the official entry thread.  At that time you'll reply to the thread with the url to your song.  Voting will begin at the end of the week and you may modify your post to change your song selection at any time as many times as you like before the deadline, when I'll collect them all up and post an official bracket.  Whether or not these matchups stay the same is not up to me; it's up to the voting averages on Sunday.

So far there's no real consensus on song criteria but I believe plan A is currently in the lead.  If it stays that way by tomorrow morning there will be no restrictions on song selection.

I like the matchups; this is gonna be interesting.  Also, if the person you're paired against submits a song you don't think you can beat early in the week you'll still have time to write a better one.  That's pretty cool.  Unless it's a decoy.  That's pretty cool too.

I always worry about going up against one of those mid-major teams in the first round.  I'm ripe for an upset!

That's the spirit.  Actually, the whole point is for everyone to "win" in the sense that if you feel your stuff is constantly overlooked the song you pick is guaranteed to be looked at carefully by fifteen other people.  Also, just because someone came to the site recently doesn't mean they have little or no writing experience; some of these guys have been doing this for years and years.  You can look at it from purely a competitive point of view if you like, but you may be better off thinking of it as a great opportunity to exchange your thoughtful reading of their songs for their thoughtful reading of yours.  Also, your song should pick up some "regular" votes and that's a good thing.

This seems like a good time to remind everyone that by entering, you are agreeing to vote on every match in every round, even if you've been eliminated.  If anyone listed in the bracket above is not planning on doing that, please let me know now because there are people who'd like to take your place.

Claude,  while I've been looking forward to this it looks like I have to withdraw.  Being currently without easy PC access will make it difficult to fulfill my obligations to the other writer's to try and hear and fairly judge their work. Even if they post a URL site I don't have access to facilities at this point to listen to them.  I'd love to try it but the timing just doesn't seem right at the moment.  Man I'm bummed!  Hey, "Mystery Goat" - your lucky day, right?  Don't be too sure,  they are plenty of other's ready to jump in and throw their best artillery at you.  To the folks that were on the outside looking in and wanting to play:  Well,  one lucky person get's a last-minute shot here,  could be the break you need to go all the way!  Seriously,  good luck to all the participants -  I'll be checking it out with interest from the "NFPCL" (Non-functional Personal Computer List).  Should be fun and I guess there's always next time...pr

Since Paul is out we need to call our first reserve.  neminem was the 17th to actually express interest so the spot's his if he wants it.  Just checked his voting average; it's like 4.08 or something so that should shake up the pairings a little bit.
