If you go to the Amiright homepage and scroll all the way down to the bottom, where the statistics are, you'll see the information for how many misheard lyrics, parodies, etc. there are on the site. I just went there and it said there were 18,305 parodies (which probably includes duplicates). So after another 1,695 we'll hit the milestone.

Well, that's the figure that I saw; I notice that some of the other stats on the front page have been pretty much the same for a while. Seems like they get updated every once in a while.  Anyway, I'm not sure what the exact figure is now. Maybe Chucky knows.  :-/

yeah, I don't run the stats too often... I should schedule it to run every night or something.

I just ran it, and it's at 19081

yikes! I imagine it'll take less than a month to hit 20,000.  I can't remember when the 10,000 mark was reached.  Last summer I think, maybe 9 or so months ago.

just like giving child birth... what a strange and wonderful child those 10,000 parodies would represent

looks like we're really close now... probably within the week

Good catch, Ethan.  It is something to make note of for sure.  Quite something.  I had seen the numbers at the bottom of that page a few times but I didn't have a prior benchmark in my head to put them into perspective.  Doubling the total in less than a year  -  Pretty impressive.

Since it looks like Amiright might possibly reach 20,000 parodies at the time of tomorrow's parody postings, I decided to celebrate the occasion...

...I just submitted a new parody of the classic "Mary Poppins" song "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" ... my parody's title is "TwentyThousandParodiesArePostedOnThisWebSite".

Since i brought up this 20,000 milestone i might as well try to have #20k even if its just a regular parody. It's called "carbophobes" to "Kodachrome" and i'll let you guess what diet it's about

So how's this gonna work? The 13th parody on tomorrow's list will be the official, super, giant, colossal, "P20K" (Parody 20,000)? I guess I have a shot at the title now too.

there was a big deal made out of number 10,000 with the link to that parody on the front page for a long time but we'll see if chucky decides to do anything for 20,000

I wasn't planning on doing more than announcing which one it is... 20,000 doesn't seem as impressive as 10,000.... maybe 50,000 will get similar treatment >grin<

anyways, it was Guy DiRito, "Bit On The Wide Side"

Congratulations, Guy!

I think it's very appropriate for you to receive this honor, Guy - you're one of Amiright's leading authors, and you're always helpful and encouraging to new writers, too.

Again, congratulations, well-deserved!
