Subject: Chalupa Awards are Back!!!!!
Ok, just give me a couple of sentances to explain my shame-less plugging...Alright a paragraph or two. First off, you've read correctly, the chalupa awards are officially back and I am in the process of writing another one for later this week. Secondly, the FIRST one that I wrote has been waiting patiently for people to find it for about a month. The reason why I'm being shameless about plugging it is:
1) It is a name-dropper. That makes it a big, giant inside joke, so it is only funny to the active people on this site. Therefore I want the maximum amount of people to check and see if they were mentioned in it.
2) Claude's current tournaments are drawing a large audience of people who I haven't seen on this board in a while and who may or may not appear in the parody ;c).
3) Less than half of the people mentioned have turned up in the last month to comment on it so far. And I'm counting every duo that was mentioned as one person for that estimate.
4) The specific parodies mentioned are becoming dated references, and the longer this parody goes, the more dated it will look if people finally see it.
5) Come on. Gimme a break. I was gonna wait for the next parody tournament and then use this song so it got more notice, but it might sway votes one way or another simply by the names that it mentions, so I wouldn't feel right about plugging it that way.
Please, please, please (and if you've already been to see it, you know that I have a history of shamelessly plugging THIS parody specifically), please come and check it out. I promise that regardless of whether this plug works or not, I promise I won't plug it anymore.

Oh. I never really got what these "Chalupa Awards" were in the first place. I must've gotten active here after they stopped the first time, whenever that was (I assume that must've happened at some point, given that you said they're "officially back"). What's the story on the name?

Since Wild Man invented the "Chalupa Award" parodies, please do the proper intro. Credit him in each Chalupa parody you write. He says "He wouldn' t mind passing the "Chalupa Torch", as long as the proper referrances are given."
Also, please do consider, that Chucky G is not very fond of parodies, that contain authors names in them. However, he will allow them if, no negative remarks are made.
Many of the authors did enjoy the awards. However,some writers are opposed to them, and may give you flack for doing them.

Subject: The New Chalupa Spirit
Claude Prez has started something good with his two Tournament Brackets - a new vehicle for parody authors to draw more attention to their work...an especially valuable opportunity for those authors who write quality stuff but who haven't yet attracted the attention they deserve.
And 2nz's Appreciation Weeks are in the same spirit as Claude's Tournaments - another opportunity for writers to widen their audience and showcase their talent.
I would like to see the Chalupa Awards move in that same general direction, if possible...serving as yet another medium to draw much-deserved attention to skilled writers whose parodies are still building an audience.
I'm not quite sure how that would be accomplished...it's just the kind of spirit and intention I would like to see any new Chalupa Awards demonstrate...

I've already gotten flack about not choosing certain authors for Appreciation Week already, so flack about these, to paraphrase Johnny D: 'group-hug love-fests' won't be a problem.
Wild Man went the extra mile in his opening comments before a Chalupa parody to explain exactly what it was. I will start doing that, beginning with the next one.
For those authors who want an explanation of what the awards are RIGHT NOW, if you want me to spell it out, I will. But before you ask me to do that, please go back to the song parodies section on the main page, open up the "search" command, put the word "chalupa" in for the "Parody Song Name" section and find some of Wild Man's. I wasn't active on this site until after WM had stopped creating Chalupa parodies, so I stumbled onto one, searched out the rest, and understood the concept from that.
To truly honor the creator of the Chalupa Awards, I think everyone who is curious about it should at least go and check out one of Wild Man's ORIGINAL awards parodies, and vote on it if the references make sense. See above paragraph for directions if you need them.

So many authors on here, it's hard to please them all. The ones who haven't been honored yet shouldn't feel slighted in the least, there's just so many people that it's impractical to give everyone their due.
