Subject: 300!

Written By: Ethan Mawyer on 03/20/04 at 09:53 p.m.

On the next update i'm going to finally have 300 parodies. (The last 50 took about 6 months which is a snails pace compared to some other people here)  I wrote this last one relatively quickly (not sure exactly but well under 2 hours) but whats special about it is that it's a parody of the song which was #1 the day i was born on the Billboard charts ("Don't you want me" by the Human League)

http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/humanleague2.shtml

Rick said something a while back about me being close to three hundred and that meaning something... now that i'm there maybe i'll find out what he meant by that

Ethan - Please accept my Congratulations on 300.  That's an awful LOT of parodies, particularly with the time and care you put into them. I know sometimes when you put that much time into one it's a little disheartening to see very few votes & comments. When I have that happen I try to remember that the reason I SPENT so much time on the painstaking details is becaue I WANTED it to be done right.  Anyway,  I actually DO more-or-less remember that song by Human League.  At least the chorus anyway.  Whatever radio station was played at the place I worked at that time had that song on it MANY times a day, I believe.

I think I said that in response to you moaning you didnt get enough notice or votes. Some of the one I like the best have sat in the middle of my big pile and not gotten much notice. But as with your 300, they are there for posterity (Posterior?) And It's always a kick when somone new hit one at random and makes a comment. Be proud. It's an elite, (but somewhat demeted) crowd. Especially since you may be the youngest one up here.

It is quite a feat, bearing in mind that i have submitted 129 songs since finding amiright, but the majority of those have been written over the course of 18 years. I don't know your age or how long you have been here, but you do have quite a prodigious output. :o

Allow me to add my voice to the chorus of congratulations - 300 parodies is quite an achievement, Ethan - my 178 (so far!) took some work, so I can imagine the effort and perseverence that must go into reaching 200, 300, 400, and more.

Congratulations, Ethan - well done!

Johnny D :)

Agri - i'm 21 now so i obviously haven't been writing for 18 years. The earliest parodies i have on this site were written when i was 16 but about 250 of my 300 were written after i found amiright in June of 2002.

rick - i'm not the youngest in the 300 plus parody club that honor belongs to STG who had about 200 on the site when i got here. I think Jim A is 25 but he's been MIA for a long time. And that's it for under thirty in that group unless someone's been lying about their age.

paul and johnny - thanks it has been a good deal of work but i don't mind it pretty much replaced the time i used to waste playing games online. Since i think i average about 2 hours a parody i must've spent about 3 weeks worth of time just writing in the last couple of years

21!  Zowwweee!  I didn't realize that Ethan...Trying not to sound like some dried-up old school teacher I must say your writing is (OH BOY here comes the old dried up guy) more MATURE than I imagine anyone 21 being.  Not to mention your Technical skills with language.  And that comes from the guy that INVENTED run-on sentences.
