Subject: Thought for a monkey-room parody
Written By: philbo on 09/30/04 at 4:13 am
It struck me that with the Bush/Kerry debate coming up, and the size of the potential TV audience, there is only one parody title that will do justice... To the tune of "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees:
Here I lie in a lost and lonely part of town,
Held in time in a world of tears I slowly drown.
Goin' home; I just can't make it all alone.
I really should be holding you, holding you,
Loving you, loving you.
Tragedy: When the feeling's gone and you can't go on,
It's tragedy. When the morning cries and you don't know why,
It's hard to bear. With no one to love you, you're goin' nowhere.
Tragedy: When you lose control and you got no soul,
It's tragedy. When the morning cries and you don't know why,
It's hard to bear.
With no one beside you, you're goin' nowhere.
(Bridge)
Night and day there's a burning down inside of me:
Oh, burning love with a yearning that won't let me be.
Down I go and I just can't take it all alone.
I really should be holding you, holding you,
Loving you, loving you.
Tragedy: When the feeling's gone and you can't go on,
It's tragedy. When the morning cries and you don't know why,
It's hard to bear. With no one to love you, you're goin' nowhere.
Tragedy: When you lose control and you have no soul,
It's tragedy. When the morning cries and you don't know why,
It's hard to bear.
With no one beside you, you're goin' nowhere.

...the title for the parody I'd suggest is Mass Debate, given that they're both a pair of mass debaters anyway (or something like that):
See them lie, half a billion viewers looking on
Trying hard to avoid the quest-i-on
Kinda' rich, an untruthful election pitch
You really want I vote for you? Vote for you?
Vote for who? Vote for YOU???
Mass debate: what you can see on your TV
A mass debate: see George and John going on and on
It's hard to bear, and wholly irrelevant, going nowhere
Mass debate: it's about control and it's got no soul
A mass debate: hot air and hype, just sideshow tripe
It's hard to bear -
All put-on show-business, why should we care?
