Subject: Super Random AmIRight Parody Link Time GO!

Written By: Apricot on 03/18/05 at 3:13 pm

I thought this might be an interesting place to link to any random parodies you've enjoyed. Your own stuff, someone else's, some newbies, anything. You know, so people can read older ones that might've been missed or to encourage newer authors to keep going by giving them votes. Anyway, I'll start.

http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/evanescence36.shtml

I'm assuming you've heard of the author "Joey Lawrence {no, not the actor}" and seen some of his work. But this was an enjoyable parody that seemed to be overlooked.

Well, I'll see if this takes off.

I think this is a FABulous idea for a thread, Apricot!!  :)

I've got nothing right now (I can't usually get on amiright while I'm working...not sure why) but I'll be back.

Why, thank you.

Why can't you get on AmIRight at work? Filter?

In honor of yesterday's congressional hearings about steriods and baseball, I'd like to draw attention to Michael P.'s fun "I Shall Be Deceased." You can read it herehttp://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/bobdylan106.shtml

That, coupled with my own "Just Juice It" (http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/eminem201.shtml) Should give you enough steroid reading to last you for a little while.

Once upon a time, Arwen's computer got a virus.  Even after her computer was "cleaned," some sites were WACKADOO when she would visit them.  AmiRight is one of those sites.  She can actually go there...but about half the time, she is redirected to www.allposters.com...or, lately, www.ashro.com.

I just usually don't bother with it anymore...I check the parodies when I'm at home...which is why I don't comment over there nearly as much as I used to.  I'm not home as much as I'm at work... :)

Well, I think I can do this now without getting beaten the Hell up:

You likely won't know the song, so just read it as a poem or something.

I agree - this is a fantastic idea, Apricot.  As a relative newbie, often have I stumbled across an older parody that dazzled me - and here are the three that I most readily recall (there are some  others that I just can't remember) - and I always feel the need to reward them for the enjoyable couple of minutes they just gave me.  This thread will fulfill that need.

Two of them I posted comments on in order to honour (and reward) them with more exposue on Latest Messages (and to draw renewed attention to them, the way this thread intends to)
The other was my first experience with prodigious talents of Emiloca...

I love this one -- it is from '1999' by Prince, one of my favorite songs. It's about infomercials.  It's by 'Laurence Dunne'
http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/prince19.shtml

This one is from "I Feel Pretty" from "West Side Story" and it's by 'Spaff.com'.  It's about Snow White, and it's hysterical!
http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/westsidestorycast1.shtml

And weird enough, this next one is by 'Stuart McArthur' (who I guess is the same guy as 'Stu McArthur' who wrote the comment right before this one).  It's from Joanie Mitchell's song "Both Sides Now", and it's about my favorite actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Quick aside about being hijacked from Amiright:

Your computer is still infected -- not with a virus, but with scumware that's hijacking your browser. I don't know about ashro.com -- never heard of it, but allposters definitely does NOT allow affiliates to "link" to them in that manner and will cancel the affiliation with whatever company is putting the scumware on people's machines, if they become aware of the unethical method of "linking" to their site and can track down which of their affilliates is doing it.  (Therein lies the rub.)

It's probably Chucky's affiliate ads for Allposter triggering the scumware to hijack the browser, so there's no way you'll buy through HIS links... see why they call it "scumware?"  if I remember right, (and it's not like I pay that close of attention to it, so I may not)  Chucky runs those ads on Amiright, but not on inthe00s, so that would explain why it affects that site, for you and not this one.

If you surf from work, quite a bit and your employer will allow you to install a program on your computer, find a good, free spy/scumware cleaner and run it over your work computer once a week.

....I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread... in progress.

Say, great idea.  I've often thought about digging up lost favorites but never got around to it.  Here are several, two of them submitted before commenting was allowed:

One of the first Be Our Guest parodies here, this one by Paul Morton is about Martha Stewart.

An awesome Star Wars parody from the Grease soundtrack -- Rebel Fights by Kowgirl.

One of my first favorites from the now-defunct all-time top 100 list:  Star Trek Fan by Chris Pyhtila.

Yeah, I've read and commented on that one before. It's fantastic.

My first ever parody is my classic (and by classic, I mean my only parody which more than 5 people have read  ;D), "Fatter," to the tune of the Stones' "Shattered." I was looking back at it the other day, and in terms of pacing and originality, it just my be my favorite out of all of my parodies. Check it out! http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/rollingstones8.shtml

Everybody who's already posted has great first parodies, too. I'd be interested in seeing, say, Spaff's first ever parody...

I suppose I'd  like to try to link a song I did that received two coments and votes. I really loved those comments and am extremely grateful to those individuals, but I was sort of hoping to hear from a few more die hard fans of Harry Potter (No offense Rex, I' do consider you to be a fan of J.K. Rowling's work).

So here is "Hogwarts Express: The Railway Train."

Thank you very much Isaac, I think the fact you are able to like the song inspite of being over saturated with "Harry Potter" makes me even happier.  :)

BTW, do you call yourself Apricot because you like apricots or is there some story behind the name? Just curious.

Kim.

How do you look at me differently? I'm curious.

Anyway, the reason I call myself Apricot is because when we were writing a parody, and I didn't have my nickname yet. My friend Icy needed a word to rhyme with "not", be 3 sylables, and it had to be a name of a group member. We suggested Apricot for me, because it'd be ironic because I'm bitter.

So, there's the story.

These are some of my weirder parodies that never got any attention:

This one is one that I kinda think was a bad idea to begin with, but I thought the lyrics were corny enough to work to the tune of a Neil Diamond song that I don't ever recall hearing in my life. Based on the TV show, Rugrats, it's "Angelica" to the tune of "America."
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/neildiamond24.shtml
:-Sesame Street parody of the underground Satanic-metal 'hit' "Destroy the Opposition" entitled, "C Is For Cookie." The singer sounds like either Satan or Cookie Monster on the track.
To hear a clip of the original song: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B00004YLEY001002/1/103-4548389-0127816
To read the parody: http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/dyingfetus0.shtml
;D

After the success of a parody of "Toxic" called "Cheap Trick" (which wasn't even about the band  :o), I figured I would do a parody of the same song, same parody title, but make it about the Robin Zander/Rick Neilsen band whose hits include: "Dream Police," "The Flame," "Tonight It's You," and "I Want You to Want Me." It's a parody of Britney Spears's classic, "Toxic."

A parody of "Doctor Doctor" by the Thompson Twins

****My First HIT Parody****! This one is still the (bleep) to this very day! Sisqo raps on and on and on about playing Pong with his girlfriend.
