I received my copy last week: "Security and Defence Policy in the European Union"... and on page 41 there's a reprint of this one: http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/tomlehrer7.shtml

How appropriate you get the US smileys today when you post something about the Europeans.

Anyways, excellent job getting published and excellent parody.

I know what you mean... I think the author wanted a) to use it to highlight some of the popular misconceptions about the concept of a "Euro Army", but mainly b) to have a little light humour in there, too.  I've read (well, scanned, anyway) quite a bit of it and there aren't many places you could get a laugh in.

Ready, aim, talk, indeed!

The original is "Ready, aim, sing!", so it was a fairly obvious sub, I guess.  I was most pleased with the verse:

We'll fight alongside the Germans
If we ever go to war
And if the image seems kinda familiar
Well, we've fought "with" 'em one or two times before

I'm not really sure what else to add...

Here's a link from Amazon.com, although you can't search inside:

And congratulations for your parody being published by the EU boys...
