Subject: TOR Hershman's parody style

Written By: lpg_unit on 08/14/07 at 6:46 pm

After checking out his parodies, it seems that Mr. Hershman's becoming the TSB of album cover parodies. I don't intend to attack my fellow homies here at Am I Right, but what's your opinion about him? Does he really need to change his parody style?

Hm, yeah. I've noticed that as well. Part of me wants to say, "Er...that's not exactly funny," but I'm not that mean.

But in general, being that I've had a few crazy wacked-out parodies in my day, I have no problem with people who march to the beat of their own drum, and I'm a huge proponent of the First Amendment. Censoring any part of AmIRight would only lead to tyranny.

I rarely look at album cover parodies, but I took a look at a few of Tor's. This one is pretty funny and clever:

as was this:

and this, too:

I've heard two of his recordings: the videos were very good, but they needed much work on the lyrics and vocals. Overall, they showed quite a bit of promise, especially with the video skills.

Since searching for album covers by parodist isn't possible at this time (and I'm not looking letter by letter for Tor's works), I can't really judge him as a parodist. I don't think he needs to change his style.  From what I've seen he puts out odd but quality work. The only TSB comparison I can make is that he never comments on anyone else's works...

That is not strictly true. Here are times where TSB has actually commented.

Here, he 'politely' informs me that I DKTOS very well in this Lemon Demon job:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/lemondemon19.shtml

And here, he points out to you that the word 'Ugly' can scan to 'Beautiful'
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/jamesblunt51.shtml

Here he mentions me again because I said something about TSB mentioning 'Fitu Petaia' in this parody:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/lemondemon27.shtml

And last, but by no means least, he comments that someone has been imitating him:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/thebeatles1889.shtml
Here he even mentions his real name is Victor Perez!

I really fail to see why TSB never ever comments on parodies in general, except for whats mentioned above. He enables comments on his parodies so he must expect some form of feedback.

Jason.

That keeps him mysterious and engimatic.  ;)

What about Michael T. Mondak? Nearly 99.99997 of his parodies are based on Jimmy Buffett!

One thing peculiar with Mr. Hershman is that he made the same "Ice Cube" parody over and over again (as seen in http://www.amiright.com/photoshops/), changing only the subject...
