Subject: Parody A Day: November

Written By: Matthias on 10/27/13 at 9:28 pm

This might be a bit of a challenge but I like challenges and during the month of November I'm going to attempt to write one song parody for each day of the month.
This is similar to my annual "31 Days Of Horror" self-challenge on Facebook that I do every year and this may or may not be an annual thing depending on whether or not I complete it.

Don't expect any epic rap songs coming from me this month and a lot of these songs are going to be short and sweet because writing a song a day is going to be TOUGH.

I'm a glutton for punishment though and I think this will really test my chops as a writer....

A few of the shorter songs that I plan to do parodies for are as follows....

- Phillip Phillips: Home
- Alex Clare: Too Close
- Fun.: Some Nights
- Jason Mraz: I'm Yours
- Colbie Caillat: Bubbly
- Rihanna: Take A Bow

And a few shorter songs along that line. It's still going to be tough, Don't get me wrong even though they are shorter songs but I think that I have the talent and the insanity enough to do this...

Wish me luck!

Gee, those songs all come from my USOP self-challenge list, surely this is a coincidence!  ;)

Just joshin', my man. Good luck with this, especially with "Some Nights", that was a doozy. Partially due to my weird topic of choice, partially due to the non-standard structure of the song. Though "Home" was a piece of cake, so that should even it out, I guess.

Any suggestions on easy songs to tackle?

Hmmm..well, from my list there's We Are Young, Ho Hey, Diamonds, Pumped Up Kicks, The Lazy Song, In My Head and any given Katy Perry song. You could also do a few Beatles songs, they rarely take more than 20 minutes for me. Anything that's short but not so short that you're squeezing blood from a stone should do. Then again, these are songs I find easy, so who knows how you'll find 'em.

"Candy Rots Your Teeth" is coming tomorrow. A day after Halloween... To kick off my first song for November and the first parody I've written in over a month's time!

Best of luck to you, sir! It'll be a mighty challenge, but I'm sure you can do it. Just stick to annoyingly poppy songs (Katy Perry, Ke$ha, One Direction...aka, overly repetitive songs) and you'll be just fine.
