Subject: Mad Ape Den

Written By: Rex on 07/30/14 at 5:13 pm

Ok, I may be late to this party, but I was recently introduced to Mad Ape Den.

According to the Urban Dictionary, "Mad Ape Den is a way to speak or write that will use words that are short."

Over at the meh.com forum (https://meh.com/forum) people are posting song lyrics rewritten in Mad Ape Den. A few have even been recorded, like Tubthumping (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kaCbTuG9MA), Shiny Happy People (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9332dRMExs), and Don't Stop Believing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qreZoO9IL4E).

These are not like traditional parodies in that you don't worry about matching the pacing of the original, you just reduce it down to all 3-letter and less words. The powers that be at meh.com have hinted that there could be worthless prizes for Mad Ape Den submissions they like.

I thought there may be a few parody folks here who might get a kick out of trying this, so I'm posting about it. Cheers!

I think the "Shiny Happy People" guy cheats with element aymbols and hyphens.
"Don't Start Believin'" reminds me of some really bad Yes lyrics for some reason.

So if that is Mad Ape Den, then should what I did here be known as "Furious Primate Lounge"?

"Let It Be" sounds like it would be a good candidate for a "Mad Ape Den"... I think I might test it out
