Subject: AMIRIGHT REUNION CHALLENGE- June 29th - POLICE LEISURE AND PLEASURE PARTY

Written By: Matthias on 05/31/18 at 5:27 am

This challenge originated in the TOP SECRET SONG PARODY FACEBOOK GROUP that everybody knows about.  The first one went really well, so we're going to start advertising here and on the front page so that people not in the group can participate as well.  Anyone with questions can leave them here or in the comment section of the Events Page notification.  Or in the comment section of one of my parodies, I'll definitely see that haha.  Okay.  So the main thing to know is that the parodies should appear on AmiRight on Friday June 29th, so they should be submitted Thursday!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ever wish you could travel back in time to the Golden Age of AmiRight?  Well gas up your DeLorean, because we know exactly when lightning is gonna strike the clock tower!  On Friday, June 29th, a crapload of AmiRight blasts from the pasts will all be showing up back at their old stomping grounds for the POLICE LEISURE AND PLEASURE PARTY - In honor of interests and hobbies... The challenge is to parody any song by the UKs favourite bleach blonde rock muppets, The Police and make it about something to do with leisure or pleasure like stamp collecting OR racing pinewood derby cars OR picking and collecting all of your belly button lint it's really up to you. Anything is up for grabs, INCLUDING NOT FOLLOWING THE CHALLENGE PARAMETERS AT ALL.
See, the main point of the challenge is really the reunion aspect, where all these great authors pick two days a month (one near the middle and one at the end) to show up back here and resume the great camaraderie and encouragement that characterized this place back in the day.  So even if you're like "What the hell is Ske-Ball"?  Or "Who the hell goes on a single's cruise"  You can still write a parody about whatever the hell you want, show up, and know that there will most likely be an amazingly receptive  potential audience for your work, especially provided you're one of those brilliant people who understand that Golden Rule thing.  So have fun, good luck, and we'll see you there!
I think you meant a date in June in your second paragraph.
Wow, this is like the complete opposite of last time where I had, like, sixteen bajillion Madonna songs in my list to choose from. The Police? Precisely one. Stay tuned for "King of Games"!
Sidetopic: Tim Ferriss' podcast with Stewart Copeland last year was really good. (I listen to podcasts (or music of course) as I bike to work five days a week). The origins of The Police are definitelly not what one would expect from just their music.
Gonna do one about grown men who obsessively passionate about the little girl's show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"
"So Lonely" will become "Gross Bronies!" (It's also a popular Police song that has never been parodies before!)
Was thinking about using "Don't stand so close to me" to do "Manga pornography" - but it seems Matty's got the cartoon angle covered again, so I'm gonna use the far lesser known but not totally unused "Rehumanize yourself" to do "Reorganize my shelfs" or something like that. Also I've got a back-up movie or movie fanfic (again) idea for "Message in a bottle".
You should save “Rehumanize Yourself” for a OWN round because I never heard that song till now and it’s freaking awesome! Such upbeat fun music!
That's a good idea, and I'm not familiar with "So Lonely" so depending on how things work out timewise and with alternative ideas maybe we should both keep that an option. :)
Not a bad idea! I could save it for that week.
