Subject: Rap Parody Contest

Written By: Luke Brattoni on 09/01/04 at 11:01 pm

Those of us who have parodied the difficult pacing and rhyming of raps can now appreciate each others' work and truly get the 'props' that we 'peeps' deserve for our 'wackity-wack parodizzles'.

~~To enter, reply to this thread with the url of your entry.
~~By entering, you are agreeing to read all the other entries and vote.
~~Entries close September 16th, so if you haven't got a rap parody yet, you have time to write one.
~~Votes will be done 'World Idol' style. Say there are ten entrants, you automatically get 10 points and then vote 9 to 1 for the others, persuading you to read all entries and also not feel bad by having 0 points if you crash and burn.
~~You're not allowed to vote for your own parody.
~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.
~~Voting closes September 23th.
~~Voters must leave a brief comment on every parody, indicating they've read it for the SOTM contest (something like, "RPC--Fully ill, dawg" or whatever)
~~Parodies must be of rap songs. An entry may be disqualified if a majority of entrants do not view the original song as a rap.[

As Claude pointed out in another board, I will win Gold, Silver and Bronze by default if nobody else enters. (I'll try and make my own ones, Johnny D)

Hoorah! Another entrant! I wrote STG, but will drop those others a line, too. Should I extend the deadline and make this a month-long vote?

;D yay! i suck at rap! let me enter this one called "Another Tribute" http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/weirdalyankovic19.shtml btw, don't effect this when you vote on mine, but i love ur parodies!  ;D

However tempted I am to enter this (given that I have done a single rap parody), I don't think I can because it'd mean I have to try and find copies of everyone else's rap originals in order to vote... and I'm sorry, but I don't like rap *that* much ;)

Technically I haven't written a rap parody, but seeing as how it looks like you could use more entries, I wonder if I could sponsor one that someone else wrote:  Fan, to Eminem's "Stan", by Star Wars Parody God Steven Cavanagh.  I haven't asked his permission but I'm sure he'll let me know if he has a problem with it.  I'll just read all the other entries and vote as if it's a song I wrote.  Would that be okay?

That's what the "blank medal template" thread is for, Luke!  Go for it, and good luck!  ;D

The submitting part seems fine if Steven agrees, I'm just a bit iffy about the voting, as he might have voted differently to you. I'm sure no-one has any 'beef' with this. :)

How do you do multiple quoting? As you can see I could fill up a page replying.

Is the contest still open?  I'm working on a new rap parody right now, and I want to enter it in. It should be on the site by Tuesday.

Righto, I'll be lenient seeing we're low on entries.
EVERYONE OBSERVE THE MODIFICATION TO VOTING AND DEADLINE ABOVE!!!

Will you be lenient for me too? I'm so close to finishing my first rap parody... Make it...say...a belated birthday present(which, by the way, I will be accepting until September 3rd, 2005)?

Crap, this is nailing the lid on my own coffin, but I'll be lenient for The Invincible and EmiLoca in getting theirs done, seeign that numbers are a little low.
Hey, here's an idea: Deadline extended for another week so that anyone else who has yet to write a rap parody can do one if they want to enter!

If anyone objects to the 1st choice (due to its decidedly singable verses), I do have an alternate entry below:

1st Choice: http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/usherwliljonludcris0.shtml

2nd Choice:http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/newcleus0.shtml

FAN IS MY FAVORITE RAP PARODY!!!  ;D STEVEN ROCKED ON THAT ONE! I CAN'T GET IT OUTTA MY HEAD!  :D ...He likes to think he's a jedi, he dresses like darth maul, hyperspace lines on his window, he's got no life at all, he likes to sit and draw x-wings all day, he's got the pictures on his wall, his friends and family pray it's just a fad, it's just a fad... i love it!

maybe there should be a more of a topic as far as rap songs.  I was just thinkning because I have soo many I did I didn't know what to chose, plus it would make the contest a little more challenging.

Jeepers, you do have a collection! This rule should be challenging enough for you: your rap parody has to have comments enabled so that we can check that people have visited it!

Limits me...

The only one that can be put in this is this one. Which is a bit...bleh. Only found out about this on deadline day.

Sorry for the extremely long wait, but this parody took longer than expected to write, the choruses in particular. Anyway, this is my newest parody, that just so happens to be a rap:
