Do CCR songs count as country?

I've just entered a country song contest on soundclick, for an original rather than a parody... (to write a song entitled "It wasn't our day"...  I wasn't going to, but couldn't help myself, as I had about five or six hours in the car yesterday)

Must admit I don't think I'd have classified CCR as Country (though that would add a few possibles to choose from)

I'm going to go with no.  But I love CCR!
