I have a bit of a problem this month. There is a parody I would like to enter but, Arwen did one on the same OS this month and, it is probably the one she will enter. I don't think it would be fair to enter two on the same OS in the same contest. Since she is out of town, I don't want to sneak mine in first (especially since she submitted first and, reading hers is probably what put the OS into my head in the first place).
Having just typed all that, I now see that the right thing to do is to enter a different parody. I'll be back.

I couldn't decide this month, but I'll go left field for

Duelling Mangoes
- a parody of "Duelling Banjoes" - the instrumental theme to the movie Deliverance

Being instrumental, it definitely benefits from reading it to the mp3, if you have the chance to download it from...

As long as yours is not also (very close) on the same subject/topic I don't see any reason against, we take OS inspiration from each other all the time. And you'd be saving everyone one dooownload if you go with the same OS.

Welcome, Will.

As a first time entrant, I thought I'd check out your entry, but from the comments it received, it looks like you posted it in April, which means it can't go into the June comp, which is only for parodies submitted in June 2005.

Easily fixed though - just pick a parody you submitted in June and enter that instead  :)

yes, and I recall Kristof and Phil simultaneously submitting "Modern Major-General" parodies just one (or two?) months ago

the more unlikely (and confusing) coincidence nearly happened last month when Agrimorfee and I were both on the verge of submitting parodies with the same name - "Decade Police"

Well, June was a very creative month for me, as long as we’re talking quantity, but compared to the gargantuan effort of May they’re all just silly little ditties, and many of them set to obscure Grunge songs. I’ll try to lift my game again now in July but as for a SOTM of June entry I only have my Spam parody to offer as a worthy contestant. (But since it’s a third non-song parody in this round at least I can pretend that I’m in a slug out for sub-competition medals).  8)

Well, there ARE some of us who try to get a jump on things by reading entries as soon as they're submitted, instead of waiting for the official listing, Paula Procrastinator.

By the way, to minimize confusion/disappointment, maybe we should close or delete the submission thread once the entry deadline's passed and the voting thread is up... Kristof sadly missed the cut.  :(

I have to admit, I was surprised you didn't have an entry this month.

What the rule says is:  "On the eighth day of the month, entries close and voting begins", which has always meant that anytime after the seventh I can put up the voting thread.  I often forget to close the entry thread, though; sorry about that.  Anyway, this is a tough decision.  I'm inclined to say you're out of luck, especially since two people have already voted.  But you have a pretty good excuse so I'm adding your entry and anyone who doesn't like it can just not vote for you.  Also, anyone who's already voted doesn't have to go back and read it.  I gotta go now so if there are problems I'll deal with them later.
