Subject: Ego Parody Contest

Written By: Scathe on 07/03/05 at 11:48 pm

;D :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D
AmIRight is a vibrant community of spoof writers, and in this contest you will have the opportunity to show off a humorous, boastful parody about yourself and your skills.  Regular rules apply:

1) One submission per author
2) The parody must be about yourself.
3) Entries will be accepted until the end of July.
4) Voting starts when August does.

...'Die, Brattoni'
...'I Wrote A Song That'll Get Me No Fives'
...'I'm Heinous'
...'Lame Amateur'
...'Pitied Wry AmIRight Guy'
...'Stale Linguist'
...'Still Just Really Suck'
...'Such Nuisance'

Gee, I'm just rolling in parodies that stroke my ego.

Here's mine:

I Want You All To Give Me Fives

If this ain't the most arrogant, self-congratulatory piece of codswallop on the face of the earth, then I'm Bono!

Oh MAN!!!

You would think that an Ego Parody Contest was tailor made for me...considering that 98.9% of my work is written to remind you all how cool I am...

...but I don't really have anything about how cool I am at writing parodies.  Dammit.

I guess I have all of July to throw something down... :)

of course you could always borrow this, Arwen ;)

as for me, I also don't have what Arwen just said, but on the title alone, there should be no question that this is an ego parody (albeit tongue-in-cheek)

I Am Getting Too Handsome 8)

I can see how the second rule can make things difficult, and I'm flexible.  I've adjusted it so that it can be about yourself in anyway.  It will probably bring in more entries if I do it this way, too.  For those that have entered you are of course free to change your entry at any time during the month.

:D :D :D :D :D :D
Now let's see that shameless self-promotion, everyone.

IMO, there's only one parody that can win this... providing Claude enters it. :-)

I have a couple, but I'm working on a real killer right now. Stay tuned.

Thanks, Phil.

Well, here's one I found pretty funny (though I didn't write it):

But I'm guessing you're talking about this one:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/disney1.shtml

Anyway, I'm not sure if there will be enough entries to make a whole contest but we'll see.  If not, maybe we could expand it to a "Site-Specific Parody Contest", which I've always thought could be cool.  Either way, I'm in; maybe I'll get motivated to start writing again.

Modified to add that I just noticed it looks like it may be a contest to write a new song, not use an old one.  If that's the case I'll quickly remove it.

"The Ditty of You or Me", my parody of Arlo Guthrie's classic folk tune "The City of New Orleans".  This parody was my 500th parody on AmiRight, and it's all about me as a parody artist doing my thing on AmiRight.

Here's my entry, unless I come up with something else in time.
This rant, admittedly, was designed to vent my frustrations.

Your going to have to come up with something else because this one isn't about you.

As I stated in an earlier post on this thread, I did change it so that it can be about you in anyway and not just as a parody author.  It must be about yourself.

Well, this sounds interesting. I guess the closest I got for this would be..

"Every Little Song I Hear I Trash It"
http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/thepolice72.shtml

Someone please let me know if this qualifies.

I'm sorry Agrimorfee, but I did read it several times and it seems to be about the anonymous commenter, Decade Police not you. :(

UPDATE:

There are 7 definite entries for the contest.

2nz:  I'm not sure that your entry is about you.  I need some clarification.

Agrimorfee:  Your entry isn't about you so it doesn't qualify.

Send a PM if either of you want to discuss it.

I'll likely go with this one:

This one is more about frustration than humor or boasting but, I do mention my ego in it:

Not so much about my ego, but I think it will qualify anyway. One of my best, IMHO:
