Subject: November Song of the Month Entries

Written By: Claude_Prez on 12/01/05 at 3:41 am

~~Entries begin after the last parody update of the month.

~~Any song first appearing at AmiRight during the contest month (this year) is eligible.

~~To enter, reply to this thread with the url of your entry.

~~On the eighth day of the month, entries close and voting begins.

~~Vote by replying to voting thread with your five favorites in order:
Top choice gets 5 points, next gets 4 points and so on to 1 point for your fifth favourite.

~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.

~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.

~~Voting continues until the last day of the month ends.

~~Anyone who's participated in a SOTM contest past or present may vote.

~~By entering, you are agreeing to read and comment on all the other entries and vote.

~~Anyone who enters but does not both comment on all entries and vote by the end of the month is disqualified and may not participate next month.

~~When the new month begins, the first person to enter the next contest may copy this message and start the new entry thread with it.

~~Rule changes may be suggested by any participant in their entry post.  Changes are made only when a majority of that month's voters specify a "yes" vote along with their contest votes.

Am I allowed a song that I submitted in November but didn't appear on the site until December? I.E. It was submitted on the 30th?

I'd check with Claude, Josh...but I have a feeling the answer will be "No"....save it for December SOTM and end the year with a bang!

I will enter this month after all - with the world's most lyrical wake up call

http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/liljontheeastsideboyztheyingyangtwins0.shtml

original lyrics: http://ohhla.com/anonymous/lil_jon/kings_of/get_low.jon.txt (warning - original lyrics contain profanity and lyrical themes that may offend some people. Parody lyrics are totally innocent)

There's an mp3, too: http://bitzpc.com/~latazyo/Pics/Get%20Low.MP3 (warning once again this is the uncensored version)

no, that's when the opportunity to submit entries for the November contest begins (which you do on this thread)

The November Parody Contest (ie. the voting) begins December 8th through December 31st

(but if it's the November/December thing that's confusing you, it's because only entries that have already appeared on amiright during november are eligible - which are then (obviously) voted on in December)

gottcha...now, can I submit a song in Dec to amiright, and then be eligible to vote for Nov songs, or do I wait and vote in Jan?
And, in Jan, if my song appeared on amiright, I'd be eligible to enter the Dec contest, which will start in Jan, voting until Jan 8th?
thank you for your patience!

yes, which you would then enter in the december comp, which takes entries in early january

and then be eligible to vote for Nov songs

you're not eligible to vote in the November comp unless you've entered either it or a previous comp, and voted in those comps

or do I wait and vote in Jan?

yes - but for the december comp, which you will have entered in early january

And, in Jan, if my song appeared on amiright, I'd be eligible to enter the Dec contest, which will start in Jan, voting until Jan 8th?

1. yes, as long as the song had appeared in december
2. no, you submit for the december comp until the 8th, then you vote until the 31st

thank you for your patience!

no problem, but I recommend you reread the rules, where all this is explained, then have a look at a past month's voting thread, and it will all become clear :)

Don't Wanna Be Santa Anymore

There we are, in the correct place and everything...

Yeah, I don't think it's gonna place for several reasons (Brand-spankin' new original, I can't provide mp3, not very funny, not very long) but I still think it deserves some attention. Plus I welcome the chance to catch up on all the quality work I seem to miss each month. So remember: "Santa's MAD AS HELL, and he's NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE."

EDIT: The original mp3 ce be found using the link below. Thanks a bunch Ethan (and/or Peter) for finding the link:

Peter/k1chyd found an mp3 for mine, maybe he'll find one for yours. It is about a year old, which is signficantly older than my probably entry for the december competition (haven't submitted it yet)

Ain't it always the way: I think I've done about five or six parodies this month that are better than any of my submissions for the past few contests, and there's three that I really want to enter :(

But 'cause this one's fairly unusual, and unlike anything else I've written, it's going to have to be: An Actor's Dilemma (to 'To Be, Or Not To Be' by Shakespeare (Hamlet))

Are we allowed to do the same OS twice if the parody is different?

If so, then here's a little song about Japanese Rice

I am the_conqueror_of_parodies by the way and I am submitting this:

http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/weirdalyankovic45.shtml

'Transformers: Cybertron' done to Weird Al's 'Your Horoscope For Today'. May be a bit confusing for non-Transformers fans ???, but I'm submittin' it nonetheless.

I probably won't get chosen anyway...but if I do then... :o
