DECATHLON EVENT 4:

TOPIC: Tales Of The Unexplained

GENRE: Hard Rock/Punk/Metal

http://www.ezprezzo.com/crazypics/crazysports11.jpg

THE RULES

~~Entry URLs to be posted onto this thread from the Amiright site

~~Entries must conform to both the topic and genre specifications...if in doubt, ask.

~~On the 25th September, entries close and voting begins.

~~Vote by replying to voting thread with your five favorites in order:
Top choice gets 5 points, next gets 4 points and so on to 1 point for your fifth favourite.

~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.

~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.

~~Voting continues until the 9th of October.

~~By entering, you are agreeing to read and comment on all the other entries and vote.

~~Anyone who enters but does not both comment on all entries and vote by the deadline is disqualified and may not participate in the next event.

~~If you miss a submission deadline, you will not be entered in that event, but WILL be allowed to enter the next event.
However, there will STILL be an expectation that you comment and vote in the event you are not participating in, unless you have a valid reason for not being able to.

~Rule changes may be suggested by any participant in their entry post.  Changes are made only when a majority of that event's voters specify a "yes" vote along with their contest votes.

SCORING: Unlike PAOTY, scores for each Decathlon event are not cumulative. The winner of each event gets 9 Decathlon points, 2nd gets 8 and so on. This should make the contest very close throughout the next 20 weeks.
A Leaderboard will be posted after the first event

HAVE FUN!!!!!!

Here's a good starting point for a list of artists which fit the catagory of Hard Rock: http://www.rockonthenet.com/archive/2000/vh1hardrock.htm

Thank you! A genre I can recognise for once! And as for the topic...this'll be a very entertaining event!

Charles Dickens' classic story,
"A Christmas Carol", featuring ...

... The Ghost of Jacob Marley ...

... The Ghost of Christmas Past ...

... The Ghost of Christmas Present ...

... The Ghost of Christmas Future ...

... a classic tale of the unexplained if there ever was one ...

So let the story be retold as a parody of Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water":

Scrooge Said "Bah, Humbug!"

Now the Beatles did some hard rocker numbers, particularly in their early days.  Are they allowable, Overlord Kristof?

I have an idea! I'll parody "Give It Away" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers (who were on the list that Matthias gave) into a song about The Bermuda Triangle. The main chorus bit will be (instead of 'give it away, give it away, give it away now') 'where did they go, where did they go, where did they go now?'. Likey?

er, by which I mean, is "I Saw Her Standing There" passable as a hard rock number?  (and I can feel the ground shaking under my feet even as I type :-\\)

I thought of a great idea... I just need your permission Stuart since it's sort of a remake of your's.
I want to write "Full Graveyard Of The Deceased" to "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" about Horror Movie Cliches.
Since you did one about Action Movie cliches, I thought that this would be a perfect recreation of that....

As long as it's loud, loud, LOUD, I'll allow it, Stu.

Addendum to the last post: I PERSONALLY wouldn't consider early Beatles hard rock....Beatles hard rock for me would be Helter Skelter, Tomorrow Never Knows, Revolution etc. Having said that, unless you're submitting something like Yesterday, I', (as always) pretty flexible)

Go for it like the clappers, Matthias.  :)

(How could I not relish the opportunity to be able to point proudly and say "I inspired that" ? 8) )

hmm, your kind and benevolent even-handedness is a cause for dismay, Kristof, so I shall trawl through Matthias's comprehensive list in search of heavy metallic inspiration

I'm sorry Jack, but seeing that you didn't participate in the other 3, we cannot allow you to submit in the 4th round of the Decathlon

Unexplained Mysteries.

So...any song about women?  ;D

(Just a joke, I'm going in a different direction)

I've changed the OS that I'm doing from Give It Away into Under The Bridge, if that's okay with everybody. It's kinda obvious, when you think of Al's dual RHCP parody about the Flintstones.

And I've changed the topic from the Bermuda Triangle to just aliens in general.

Thanks Matthias, and yes, it does. I wish I could have done the decathlon, but alas my time right now is still too limited to do so.

I've already written a song that fits perfectly with the theme/genre here, too.  :-[

When you say Hard Rock/ Punk/ Metal, do u mean that there will be a soft rock round? or does this round include all rock?

My entry 'They Don't Exist' has just been submitted. I'll provide the link, as well as lyrics and an OS, just because I'm so incurably nice and all. Have fun!

I've submitted mine. 'Haunted Train' parody of 'Crazy Train' by Ozzy Osbourne. But there seems to be no update today :(

As long as it's loud...

Bon Jovi should fit the bill beautifully then

And as for "unexplained" I'll be spotlighting the most unexplainable person in the world right now, Suri Cruise ???

- because exactly how was she conceived?

"Never Been In There" coming up - to "Living On A Prayer" :)
