YAY! I'm the first here (holidays are boring, I just sit here... on InThe00's) and my entry is NERDY NEEDS. It was a tough choice between this, Master Yoda and R2-D2, but this was my original choice so I went with my instinkts.

Alas, I did not write a single spoof this month. But I will certainly be voting.

Blame school for my being AWOL as of late. And I will definitely post at least one parody in October, including one that's in the works that bemoans the very thing that's been keeping me from here.

Aww...you said you had something big brewing for September! And i wanted to see that up against my entry! Bugger.

Anyway, I had 4 parodies this month, but if you know what they are, it'd be obvious which one I'll do:

My "Needs" Are Really Dire

For those who need to listen to the original song, have this, cause I'm so nice.

Not to be anal or anything, but all of the color and size adjustments you guys are putting in your links means more work for me when I make the voting thread; it will all be stripped out there.

I guess I'll allow bold, italics, and underline only for descriptions, lyrics or soundfiles on the voting thread. Parody names will appear only in 10 point print (unless someone proposes a rule change that passes) and with no other modifications, such as color, glow, scroll, etc.

If you guys and girls feel this warrants a vote or have a better idea, I'm all eyes.

On second thought...... I'm restoring "Why Can't You Guys Write Anything But Major-Modern General", Man, this month for me is tricky... I like "Full Graveyard" and "Why Can't You" equally as much, but while "Full Graveyard" tells a much better story than "Why Can't You", it is already being used in Jack's "Halloween Idiot", and isn't really all that funny.
My "Major-Modern General" parody brings up good points about the overuse of the song, and has a lot more knee-slapping lines.... Thus I am going with it.

So without futher adue... I present to you....

Of the first four entries three have no 111s at all so far, and one has 111 x 2, that hardly qualifies as spam (yet). Judging from a bitchy comment in the comments field I'd say the author had bad luck attracting a sour grape car saleswoman or something like that. ;)

Considering three people have already voted and SOTM-commented on that song I think that was the right decision. OK, official voting doesn't begin until the 8:th but IMHO you shouldn't sign up early for a contest if you're in doubt of what to go with. If so, discuss it in private with some other author whos opinion and taste you trust before you make a decision. Now I'm not gonna hold it against you since you're a first time offender (I think) but think of it as a prom date dilemma, it's not good for the reputation to dump your first choice for a second and then go back to the first while publicly admit that you're still not sure that was the right choice. :P

Hey Mr. Tangerine Man is a parody of Bob Dylan's "Hey Mr. Tambourine Man"  It was written over two years after I by accident nicknamed our orange tabby with the name.  Being an owner of around 8 different cats over the last 24 years of marriage... most of every verse is true, just might be a different cat occassionally.  At the link you will find both the lyrics and a demo.

If you want to post entries for the October SOTM you can do that, but only for parodies you submitted in October.
