DECATHLON EVENT 7:

TOPIC: In The News 2006

GENRE: Girl Groups

http://www.ezprezzo.com/crazypics/crazysports32.jpg

THE RULES

~~Entry URLs to be posted onto this thread from the Amiright site

~~Entries must conform to both the topic and genre specifications...if in doubt, ask.

~~On the 6th November, entries close and voting begins.

~~Vote by replying to voting thread with your five favorites in order:
Top choice gets 5 points, next gets 4 points and so on to 1 point for your fifth favourite.

~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.

~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.

~~Voting continues until the 20th of November.

~~By entering, you are agreeing to read and comment on all the other entries and vote.

~~Anyone who enters but does not both comment on all entries and vote by the deadline is disqualified and may not participate in the next event.

~~If you miss a submission deadline, you will not be entered in that event, but WILL be allowed to enter the next event.
However, there will STILL be an expectation that you comment and vote in the event you are not participating in, unless you have a valid reason for not being able to.

~Rule changes may be suggested by any participant in their entry post.  Changes are made only when a majority of that event's voters specify a "yes" vote along with their contest votes.

SCORING: Unlike PAOTY, scores for each Decathlon event are not cumulative. The winner of each event gets 9 Decathlon points, 2nd gets 8 and so on. This should make the contest very close throughout the next 20 weeks.
A Leaderboard will be posted after the first event

HAVE FUN!!!!!!

Uh-oh...I've had my head under a rock this year, so I don't know what's been going on...the only two big events this year (for me, anyway) were Steve Irwin getting stabbed (but that's innapropriate) and Straight Outta Lynwood. So...any hints?

If I hadn't already done a tribute to Steve Irwin I would have done "Irwin Went And Died" to the Dixie Chicks's "Earl Had To Die"

I do believe that I shall shotgun item number 1 (as I ctually know about it) to the tune of 'Buttons' by the Pussycat Dolls feat. Snoop Dogg.

I had to check a list of girl groups (God bless Wikipedia) to find a suitable song...that I actually know.

Watch out! I have very slightly changed my mind!

Instead of "Buttons" into "Planet?", I shall do "Push The Button" (by the Sugababes) into "That's No Planet!" How about that?

No, as long as the group purely contains only girls

That's nice to hear. I have now officially decided to parody "Lose My Breath" by Destiny's Child into "Too Much Death", detailing the deaths of three wolrd famous people in one week this year: Steve Irwin, Colin Thiele and Peter Brocke.

So, if I change my mind again, please shoot me.

Okay, you can shoot me now...it's now item 20 on Matthias' list, and it's based on Atomic Kitten's version of The Tide Is High.

Hey,

My home internet went out this weekend and Verizon just got things back up tonight.  Unfortunately, lame as it is, I was not able to write a song for this round because of that.  I have a few girl band songs on the site, but I don't think I can pass covering my feet, drinking beer from unopened cases, tailgating or putt-putt as "news of 2006", so I'll have to sit out this round--it's my own fault for waiting, and there wasn't an emergency or anything.  I will still vote.  Good luck to everyone!

You are an eager beaver, aren't you? Sorry about the delay, guys and gal...my home PC has tanked (hard drive probs) so I have to do my decathlon duties when I get a spare moment at work. Bear with me...event 8 will be up soon!
