Ages of Amiright
Event One

Time: 2006-2000
Topic: Television

http://patrifriedman.com/gallery/me/patri-y2k-mini.jpg

The Rules

1. Entry URLs to be posted onto this thread from the Amiright site

2. Entries must conform to both the topic and time specifications...if in doubt, ask.

3. Topics are not limited to the decade, they are two seperate parts

4. On January 30th the entries close and the voting begins

5. Vote by replying to voting thread with your five favorites in order:
Top choice gets 5 points, next gets 4 points and so on to 1 point for your fifth favourite.

6. You're not allowed to vote for your own song.

7. DKTOS, is not allowed as a comment whilest voting

8. Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.

9. Voting continues until February 13th

10. By entering, you are agreeing to read and comment on all the other entries and vote.

11. Anyone who enters but does not both comment on all entries and vote by the deadline is disqualified and may not participate in the next event.

12. If you miss a submission deadline, you will not be entered in that event, but WILL be allowed to enter the next event.
However, there will STILL be an expectation that you comment and vote in the event you are not participating in, unless you have a valid reason for not being able to.

13. Rule changes may be suggested by any participant in their entry post.  Changes are made only when a majority of that event's voters specify a "yes" vote along with their contest votes.

Scoring: Like the rules, the scoring is similar to the to the Decathalon, awarding the winner first place, with 10 points. Person who comes in 2nd,  Points and so on, and so forth...

(Side Note: Normally this will start on Tuesdays, but I'm going to be rather busy tomorrow)

HAVE FUN!!!

Lets see

"On the Small Screen" to "All the Small Things"

"What The Hell's On?" to "Since U Been Gone"

"Im Gonna Watch "Lost" to Uncle Kracker's version of "Drift Away"

"Dammin' These Commercials" to "Dani California"

"Dont Phunk With My Show ( The FCC Song)" to "Dont Phunk With My Heart"

"Cant Stop (Watching TV)" to "Cant Stop"

Those are some ideas I have and that are up for grabs

I think you may have just commited Parodicial Suicide there, Jacky.

I've already got one 2000's parody 'bout telly, but that was for the Decathlon, and it's kinda obscure (it was featured in a movie, that's about as obscure as you can get!), so I'll pull up a new one.

I think I'll do a rip of 'Welcome To The Black Parade' by My Chemical Romance, which is just about THE best song I've heard that isn't rap or a parody :P. I've got the first bit worked out, and I'll go from there.

I'm going to do a new one, I could enter my South Park parody to Barbie Girl, but that one is an everyday entry. . .I'm working on it.

Hmm...interesting. *strokes chin*

I want to do some slam of Fox News, considering I hate them. Maybe I'll do it to Boulevard of Broken Dreams, it's about time I did that one.

Though to keep with the spirit of the contest, I do think the Decade Police should be enforced. I think both Barbie Girl and All The Small Things are 90s songs, for the record.

Oh, well I wasn't going to enter Barbie Girl anyway, don't feel like looking it up. . .I have a song in mind though. . .but then I have another one in mind too. . .oh wait and, yeah. . .I'll submit by Jan 30--not sure which idea I'm using just yet though.

Are you saying that we can only enter parodies of a particular genre? If so, what is it?

I've changed my mind: there's no way in hell I am listening to Furby and her crappy song enough times to get the pacing right. 45 seconds into the song I stopped my Real Player and deleted "Fergalicious" from my hard drive.

...back to zee old drawing board.

Thank Goodness. . .that probably would have annoyed me as much as the original trying to pace it to my listening (I have to get you recording)

As long as it's before the deadline, I'm fine.
If it's taking longer than you thought make sure you submit the written parody in on time.

People who didn't make the date of the submittion, but still want to participate, can PM me their song lyrics... (Meaning Red Ant, Tomorio, and Michael McVey), and I'll add them to the voting thred tomorrow
If you don't do this, then you will be able to submit for the next Event, but your votes will not be calculated from this Event thus the possibility of you losing increases

Uh, whoops. For some reason I thought I had until the 31st to write the parody. Well, I haven't managed to get much going idea-wise for this round, so I'll take my duck early on (my first duck ever, self-inflicted no less * :\'(  :-[*) . I'll still comment and vote on everyone elses entries of course.
