Subject: Artistry Round 1: Disney, Animated Films & Cartoons

Written By: skittlesking on 04/16/07 at 11:07 pm

Well, the first random song was "Under the Sea". . .out of the 140 songs representing the rounds, my Media Player randomly chose it which means, the kick off round for Artistry will be the flexible all-inclusive round that is. . .

Disney, Animated Films & Cartoons

http://www.badave.com/artists/artistry/pics/disney.jpg

Disney, Animated Films & Cartoons is a very broad category.  Unlike most the other rounds, it is not about one particular artist as most Animated hits are not by the same artists, trying to make them seperate rounds could have turned this into a 10 year contest . . .  The importance of this form of entertainment in music far exceeds the realizations of most people, but not us parodists.  Songs like Reflections, A Whole New World and Under the Sea have influenced so much in modern art and daily lifestyles.  Animated films like Aladdin and Mulan turn normal everyday people into heroes and give people a sense of pride in insecurites about themselves.  The round is one of the most anticipated in the contest, and is a very good kick off, I couldn't have picked a better one than the media player did, so Everyone--you have two weeks to enter this round if interested. . .remember just entering a VALID entry and voting will get you 5 points, plus any you earn from voting.  As will be the case in all rounds, I do recomend writing new parodies as they will be fresher and less likely to get "See Above" as comments.  I do think the winners of most (not all) rounds will be new parodies, BUT you are welcome to enter any one qualifying parody.  The YouTube links below are just suggestions of some popular Cartoon, Animation and Disney clips.  They are well known songs from well known examples of this round's Artistry focus, HOWEVER you are welcome to enter a parody of any thing that qualifies.  Unfortunately, Merry Poppin and Wizard of Oz are NOT qualified for this round, they do both qualify as Musical though so they are elligible for the Musical & Broadway round further in this comp. . .

I have a parody already for "Holding Out For A Hero', but the original Bonnie Tyler version, not Shrek 2's. Does this qualify to enter? It's the same song.

Technically it could. . .however your chances would be much better if one were done with titling towards Jennifer Saunders, which would require slight altering. . .but it'd probably not be too difficult to do, and could improve your chances. . .but I will accept it if you want to submit it.

Well, I'm gonna enter my parody for "Holding Out For Hero", even though it's the Bonnie Tyler version.
I was going to change it for the Shrek version, but I just didn't have time. It is eligible, and besides, I like it just the way it is.
Anyways, here it is...

I could've taken the easy way out and used either my "under the sea" or "be our guest" parody, but I wrote a new one that should be up tomorrow...and it's about a cartoon.

Right now I plan to do them all, even if I have to use old ones occasionally, but it's much easier to say that now than after this is finally over, which is a huge commitment for everyone involved. The monstrosity of this contest, if followed through, should garner attention from people with some influence outside of amiright. The operative word, unfortunately, is "should", but we'll see.

I wanted to go with my parody to, "A Spoonful Of Sugar", but since Marry Poppins doesn't count, I guess I can't  >:(
So instead I'll go with... "She Loves Meat" even though "Be Our Guest" is so freaking overdone, I believe it's my best.

This round is meant to be Animation Disney though, MP is a musical--which has it's own round. . .Disney Animation is what was intended here.
