Subject: June SOTM Voting

Written By: Matthias on 07/09/07 at 12:47 am

Note to new participants: Welcome, and good luck. Please read all guidelines carefully. Especially, please make sure to read all the entries and vote by the end of the month. The SOTM is not so much a contest as a feedback exchange. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, either in this thread or via personal message. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

This is my 2nd month as host. . .thank you for continuing to allow me to host the prestigeous contest.

~~Vote by replying to this thread with your five favorites in order:
1st choice- 5 points
2nd place- 4 points
3rd place- 3 points
4th place- 2 points
5th place- 1 point.

~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.

~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.

~~Voting continues until the last day of the month ends.

~~Anyone who's participated in a SOTM contest may vote.

~~By entering, you are agreeing to read and comment on all the other entries and vote.

~~Anyone who enters but does not both comment on all entries and vote by the end of the month is disqualified and may not participate next month.

~~In the event of a tie, the parody with the most first place votes wins.
If it's still tied, the parody with the most second place votes wins.
If it's still tied, a brief playoff round will be held.
All participants will have the first week of the month to choose one favorite from among the tied entries.
Tiebreaker voting is strongly encouraged but not required. On the eighth day the one with the most votes wins.

~~Any entrant whose votes don't show a timestamp prior to midnight on the last day of the month (ie. according to the "inthe00's meantime" clock as it appears BEFORE you log in - not a timezone corrected version) is disqualified, without exception.

Hi Matty -

firstly if BADave has pulled out of SOTMs, I can step in and do half with you if you want - eg. the totals or whatever you want

secondly, you've posted the youtube link to my parody twice, ie. instead of the actual parody link

thanks

Um, I'd advise fixing the title of mine...what you wrote gives off an entirely different connotation! :P

5pts=McKludge, completely original and skillfully executed
4pts=Charnstar, successful transplantation of movie onto OS
3pts=Stu, a prettily written tribute that still brings the funny
2pts=Wannabemustangjockey, taking some of the important words of the OS into a whole new level of meaning...
1pt=B.A.D....won his own Artistry round with this, now gets a second tribute.

I'd have liked to have given the top three equal first - kept swapping them round, 'cause I like them for different reasons...

5 points - #8. "(I Need) Cash, I'll Hock It" by McKludge
-- I think this is the cleverest of this month's submissions: witty, some superb subs and I know the feeling
4 points - #12. "Test Is Full Of X's" by Cat
-- So nearly got top spot, another superb bit of studentery from Cat (and now that I've found out just how old she isn't, I'm feeling oh, so embarrassed about my submission this month... yeah, right ;) )
3 points - #5. "Sting At The Moment" by Agrimorfee
-- Another one that nearly got top spot, marvellous Eminem/Sting sort of thing
2 points - #3. "Grease Sells (And We're Buying)": Matthias
-- Megadeth by chocolate?  Nearly... grease is the word.
1 point  - #2. "Underpaid" by Below Average Dave
-- Snuck in there ahead of Stu & Kristof mainly 'cause I could really relate to this

Can't think I've ever said this before, but honorable mentions to Stu and Kristof who were the other two in my top seven...

Honorable Mentions to Charnstar and TCOP

5th, 1 Point to McKludge (I Need Cash) I'll Hock It
In honesty, each month the top 5 seem to have a different twist to it, last month, food songs were big, this month quite a few sappy tunes are big, McKludge, very impressive here, sneaks in to my top 5 with your Pawn Theme Song so to speak

4th, 2 Points to Phil Alexander's 4 Way
Pushing boundaries is always fun, and this was beautifully executed, I think it was the twist ending though that really sealed the top 5 on this one for me

3rd, 3 Points to Stu McArthur's RIP Pluto
It Will ALWAYS be a planet to me:)  ALWAYS!  Anyhoo. . .I thought this somewhat elegant parody was up to Stu's usual standard, and showed a side of Stu's Humor I'd not yet seen.

2nd, 4 Points to Kristof's Band Name Rant Diddy.
As usual, Kristof is in his own world on parody writing, I loved the idea and the execution, but I'm not alone in that opinion . . .I'm just glad he targetting big band names, and not us;)

1st, 5 Points to Agrimorfee's Sting at the Moment
Easily the toughest OS targetted, but that aside, it was a brilliant parody, and as far as other work I've by Agri, the only one that even compares to this one would be SLC to OPP, one of your best, you are most deserving this month. . .absolutely fantastic take on this song, tough choice between you and Kristof for number 1. . .in the end, I gave you the extra point because this was such a difficult parody to pace, and you did magnificently.
