Subject: October 2008 SOTM Voting (RESULTS POSTED)

Written By: Below Average Dave on 11/09/08 at 10:31 pm

Note to new participants: Welcome, and good luck. Please read all guidelines carefully. Especially, please make sure to read all the entries and vote by the end of the month. The SOTM is not so much a contest as a feedback exchange. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, either in this thread or via personal message. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

~~Vote by replying to this thread with your five favorites in order:
1st choice- 5 points
2nd place- 4 points
3rd place- 3 points
4th place- 2 points
5th place- 1 point.

~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.

~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.

~~Voting continues until the last day of the month ends.

~~Anyone who's participated in a SOTM contest may vote.

~~By entering, you are agreeing to read and comment on all the other entries and vote.

~~Anyone who enters but does not both comment on all entries and vote by the end of the month is disqualified and may not participate next month.

~~In the event of a tie, the parody with the most first place votes wins.
If it's still tied, the parody with the most second place votes wins. and so on
If the points total and votes are identical, it will be left as a legitimate tie

~~Any entrant whose votes don't show a time stamp prior to midnight on the last day of the month (ie. according to the "inthe00's meantime" clock as it appears BEFORE you log in - not a timezone corrected version) is disqualified, without exception.

~~A medal known as the FUCA shall be awarded to the highest ranking parody which did not make the month's podium and is of an original song which has not previously earned any medal

For the record, almost every YouTube link initiated on the American side is now "dead" to us over on the continent side of the other side of the pond (don't know about GB). This has been a growing "problem" over the last two-three months as american stuff is taken offline in ever greater numbers but I can still find the same stuff by searching for it myself if the source is uploaded from somewhere else. I don't claime to have the full details on this but I've read some short articles about how it all started with a RIAA lawsuit against YouTube, they wanted to go after both the uploaders and the viewers for copyright infringement or something like that, resulting in a compromise of some sort stating that is a business secret but that YouTube have to differentiate between American users and the rest of the world for battling-piracy reasons. Something like that, as I said I don't have the full details, but YouTube as the leading video site and world denominator for search efficiency and linking-too has been seriously compromised by this sheesh, for starters for the rest of us but in the long run probably even more so for you Americans since you're the ones in reach of the RIAA iron fist.

**********************************************
1st EmiLoca's Sweaty Bejing Shop with 30 Points!

2nd Matthias' Jungle Cruise with 26 Points!

3rd Agrimorfee's Virtual Profanity with 21 Points!
**********************************************

4th Guy DiRito with 20 Points!

5th 2nz with 19 Points!

6th Gianni Parmesiani with 18 Points!

7th The Conqueror of Parodies with 14 Points!

8th Below Average Dave with 8 Points! <<FUCA AWARD

9th Max Power with 4 Points!

10th Peter Andersson with 3 Points!

11th Jason with 2 Points!

No DQ's, nobody failed to get any points either. . .

Congrats EmiLoca, first person to podium with Happy Working Song, and after being back for a very short time, already being in the winner's circle.

Congrats to Matty, who is on a role.  You are also the first to podium with Hardware Store.

Congrats to Agri who debuts Jamiroquai's hit "Virtual Insanity" on the podium

What does that mean?  All three songs would have qualified for the FUCA, which means all three songs are first time podiums. . .

The FUCA goes to Below Average Dave/me (Thanks guys) despite an 8th place finish.  Alicia Key's "If I Ain't Got You" has never been a podium song (or entrant to my knowledge) while, Hello Muddah Hello Faddah, Gaston, One Week and The Devil Went Down to Georgia all have, that's my fifth FUCA, and third in four months. . .this is the lowest ranked song to receive it thus far though.

This is actually going to be a very entertaining SOTY... Not like in the past where it was Kristof, Kristof, Kristof, Kristof, Agrimorfee, Stuart, Stuart, Stuart, Stuart, Stuart, Below Average Dave, Phil Alexander, Phil Alexander, Phil Alexander (And it was collaberation of 15 "Be Our Guests" 8 "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgeralds" and a couple "Supercals") Not to rip on any of the above artists, but I'm just happy to see new people taking the lead (Especially since I've been on a bit of a role recently) and I'm even more happy to see that every song that podiumed this month had never podiumed before.

Congrats to Emiloca, and Agrimorfee as well...

And thank you to all of you who actually put my job, and a very random parody about an attraction at Walt Disney World into 2nd place!

First and foremost, a dumbfounded: "Wow - thanks!" from me.  It's quite an honor to podium alongside the rest of you worthy, worthy individuals.

Sincere congratulations to Matthias, who continuously amazes me with his consistency in tackling rather epic songs, and to Agrimorfee, who was one of the first parodists I came to admire when I first showed up on AmIRight (...5 years ago?!!).

Also, to Matthias - your "talking to the crew" comment totally went over my head.  You're... you're totally a Jungle Cruise guide, aren't you.  *duhhh*  In that case, please let me know of any Snow White openings... it's pretty slim pickins for that kind of work where I come from.

See you next year!

There's just no escape from it for you (or Agri), is there? Even now when three other FUCA candidates ended up ahead of your parody on the total list the FUCA itself still ended up in your lap. I hope your December will not be full of nightmares about FUCAs of the past, present and future.

I know, I'm totally fuced. . .Even when I'm not 4th or 5th, my songs choices are just that unique I guess. . .Even my two podiums this year would have qualified for a FUCA, at the time that is:). . .

Yes, uniqueness in song choice has always been my breadandbutter.  :)

Doh, fifth again.

Well played Emi, keep that jungle cruise going Matt, and nice place Agri. Close run for third, so props also to Guy and Gianni. Only a 3 point difference between 3rd and 6th. Not the closest run ever, but still. Thank you to everyone for making this another excellent round filled with feedback. Very fun. Enjoy the thanksgiving hats while they last.  ;D  :P
