Karaoke Revolutionized

Round Sixteen
The Rolling Stones's "Can't Get No Satisfaction"

Karaoke Revolutionized is an ongoing project that allows parodists the opportunity to parody popular songs that they wouldn't ordinarily take a look at, especially the older folks on this site who generally stick to 60's and 70's hits. This project follows the famous games that allow players to sing along to their favorite songs, using microphones that hook up to the Playstation 2. Usually all big top Billboard hits, with on the rare occasion a few exceptions.

This week's song is "Can't Get No Satisfaction" by the artist The Rolling Stones

A little information on The Rolling Stones...

- The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in 1962 in London when multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones and pianist Ian Stewart were joined by vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards.

- Early in the band's history Jagger and Richards formed a songwriting partnership and gradually took over leadership of the band from the increasingly troubled and erratic Jones.

- First popular in the UK and Europe, The Rolling Stones came to the US during the early 1960s "British Invasion".

- Their hits include...
1. "Get Off My Cloud"
2. "Paint It Black"
3. "Jumpin' Jack Flash"

A little information on the song, "Can't Get No Satisfaction"...

- The lyrics of the song include references to sexual intercourse, and the theme of anti-commercialism caused the song to be "perceived as an attack on the status quo".

- In Europe, the song initially played only on pirate radio stations because its lyrics were considered too sexually suggestive.

- In 2004 Rolling Stone magazine placed "Satisfaction" in the second spot on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time

Lyrics:

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try, and I try, and I try, and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm drivin' in my car
And a man comes on the radio
He's tellin' me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no, oh no, no, no
Hey, hey, hey, that's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try, and I try, and I try, and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm watchin' my TV
And a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
Well he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no, oh no, no, no
Hey, hey, hey, that's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no girl reaction
'Cause I try, and I try, and I try, and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm ridin' 'round the world
And I'm doin' this and I'm signin' that
And I'm tryin' to make some girl
Who tells me, "baby better come back later next week
'Cause you see I'm on a losin' streak"
I can't get no, oh no, no, no
Hey, hey, hey, that's what I say

I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no
Satisfaction, no satisfaction, no satisfaction, no satisfaction
I can't get no
