Subject: 2009 SOTM WildCard Round (Please Read-Changed from last year 02-12-10)

Written By: Below Average Dave on 02/02/10 at 1:07 am

Most of the rules are the same as the regular SOTM with some noticeable differences. . .

There is one major change to last year's rules

Because last year yielded so few qualified candidates there is one noticeable change this year.

To qualify for this round you must have entered at least one SOTM in 2009 and received no podiums OR did receive exactly ONE podium, but did not get a first place showing Enter by 02-08-10

If this fails to generate 6 or more entrants, I will extend the deadline by 7 days and open it to even more people. . .but hopefully there are enough qualified entrants with 1 or less podiums

Please remember, you do NOT have to pick a song previously entered, it simply has to be a song you released on AMIRIGHT during 2009

You may not use any song which reached podium status for this contest--this rule is necessitated by the allowance of those with 1 or less podium, provided it's not a winning song

OK, I'm in with an odd one I didn't really believe would do so good back in its month, but with only one Bronze to my name in 2009 my estimates of what will work here and what will not might need a closer reexamination:

Thanks for noting my eligibility, Dave...As many of you know, personal issues have kept me off of SOTM competition last year, but i went out of my way to get Dave's Artistry in...

Here's one of my successes from that effort...

I'd really like a few more entrants, at least one, I extended the deadline to this Friday, if only 4 entrants remain--that is enough to host a round, I just hope that we can squeeze in at least one or two more.

Thank you for letting me know!

I've been thinking of which song to enter, and I'm torn between "You're a Failure, Mr. Bush" and "Goodbye to You (January 20, 2009)."

The first song Grinch-ifies Bush and bashes him quite a bit. with Seuss-ian wordplay, and it's a song everybody knows. On the other hand, "Goodbye to You" is very much a good riddance parody to Bush, and it was a huge 1980s pop hit.

I'm gonna have to think about this, and reply later with my final choice.

Well, I guess I'll try to splash back in with this one.  I need to re-ignite my parody engine.

In September, I entered the harder of two songs to sing because it was awfully fun to write, wondering if I should have entered this song instead.  So, now I enter the alternative in the wild card round.  I'm going to enter, "Stalking Miley" into the wildcard round.

Now to think about new parodies for this year :)
