Subject: Artistry Round 86 (Shania Twain) Enter by December 1st, 2010

Written By: Below Average Dave on 11/17/10 at 11:23 pm

Man I Feel Like a Woman

That Don't Impress Me Much

From This Moment On

Any Man of Mine

You're Still the One

Forever and Always

You've Got a Way

I'm Gonna Getcha Good

Party for Two

Ka-Ching

When You Kiss Me

Whose Bed Has Your Boots Been Under

I Ain't No Quiter

Up

Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)

When

Don't

If You're Not in it for Love

What Made You Say That

It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing

No One Needs to Know

The Woman in Me (Needs the Man in You)

Honey! I'm Home

I think that's a good synopsis of this mega-country star--she's got hundreds (literally) more hits, not to mention non-hits to choose from, obviously any song she is the primary singer or a primary singer in a duet is qualified. . .

I have a couple of Shaina songs but both are rather sub-par so I'm going to take on "That Don't Impress Me Much" and turn it into something. Not quite sure what yet...

Damn you Vevo! Why must you irritate me by playing an unskippable ad before the video that I'm only going to play for a few seconds to determine whether the song sounds interesting enough to parody? It's bad enough when it's for an artist/genre I like, but for a bloody country artist? That's pushing it.

So yeah, dunno what I'm gonna do for this one. Something, that's for sure. That special sort of something that requires listening to country (a practice often known as "torture" according to my father) in order to make it reality.

It could be worse... It could be Faith Hill... or Rascal Flatts...

I, similarly, get annoyed by VEVO

Oh well, at least it means the videos are likely not be taken down. . .

Shania is one of the few artists on the list I've not parodied. . .she is OK--I mean among country artists shes one of the only ones I can tolerate--I thank her for modernizing country and showing that the genre doesn't have to be limited to depression and bad vocals--she does have talent even if I'm not crazy about her, I really appreciate what she did for the genre, and opening the door for Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and the like who would come after her--who I do actually like. . .

Idea Get! "Forever and For Always" shall become "Is That A Real Holiday?" about an Australian who is bombarded by American-centric holidays like Thanksgiving, Independence Day and the concept of a White Christmas (Christmas is friggin' boiling down here). Should be very therapeutic (holy crap, spelled that on the first try!).

That would actually count towards the Holiday contest as well...
